I bought some good ancient pottery with kitties ones at the SCS. I think they were from archaeotees

Not to distract from no kings, but has anyone else noticed that the OCD online no longer seems to have the abbreviations available? Are they actually still available somewhere and if so where?
I use that list almost daily and suddenly my bookmarked link stopped working 2-3 days ago

I never did either, but the people I know who did CUNY came out with really strong skills and were ahead for graduate exams. It seems like an experience people either love or hate

I enjoyed listening to this! And thanks for making me feel less stupid about my total confusion about Roman law sources (I will be emailing you extensively in a month or two)

I really enjoyed this! I especially liked your phrasing of working with theory as making the theorist and the primary text have a conversation

A red outdoor sign for the University of Ottawa stands among green shrubs and bright red flowers. The sign displays the university’s logo—a stylized building with columns—alongside the text “Université d’Ottawa” and “uOttawa.”

Greek & Roman Studies at uOttawa is the ONLY program in Ontario where students can study Ancient Greek and Latin in French. The university just resuspended it. #SOSClassicsUO #ONfr #uOttawa buff.ly/UtgW0vq

At the SCS CAMP could deploy characters from their play for the role and it would double as free advertising to come to the play!

I propose that in classics we have the Eumenides perform this role

I was thinking of it as recessive accents more than anything else. I don’t think I was fussy about learning persistent accents when I taught Greek but I do make my Latin students learn macrons

I have been contemplating some kind of accent-learning board game? It feels like @apistone.bsky.social would have good ideas for making it work

I so often need something for just an hour! Also it would be a cool way to make some unexpected intellectual community

There should be an opt-in program where if you’ve checked out a lot of the same books as another user in the last year the library can put you in touch. In other words, who else at my institution is reading about frigidity and has all the books?

There are lots of things going on in the world right now but please also go and sign this and email the powers that be at U Calgary to save their Classics and Medieval studies program! A number of Canadian departments have reversed attempted closures so it is worthwhile

I’ve taught him at the end of first year Latin and my students had a good time! I’ve always found the way social and family ife appears in the letters very appealing

I went the other day and happened to arrive just as a free tour started! I really enjoyed it despite the pouring rain

For Classicists who want more juicy Latin analysis, I’ll be talking about Hermaphroditus and asexual gender at the SCS on Jan 9!

Footnotes, ESPECIALLY if reading electronically. It’s just too annoying to scroll back and forth
