In science lessons, Y6 pupils have been learning about the heart and the role it plays in the body’s circulatory system. This week, they have been drawing diagrams of the heart and learning about the function of all its different parts. Next week, out come the scalpels!

Today, Y6 pupils examined different sources of evidence related to the death and resurrection of Jesus (as part of their unit on the Easter Story). They then presented their personal views as part of a class debate on whether the resurrection actually happened or not.

In Religion and Worldviews, children in Y6 have been reviewing the Easter Story and analysing some of the issues which are still being debated today. Who was most to blame for the death of Jesus? Did his resurrection really happen?

With the emphasis on poetry for this World Book Day, some of the pupils in Y6 got the opportunity to learn about the origins and style of Haiku poetry. Using the 5-7-5 syllable structure, they then wrote their own Haiku poems describing one of the four seasons..
