The Technological Republic is bipartisan

Yikes. And from a crowd that's on about cancel culture. Automated defamation? Seems like an early tester for governance and legal system by AI. Why judge a case or why vote; AI already knows what's best etc.
Market didn't care, some early buyers (prob by fan club) but not significant. Not enough attention from press & public. Call is May 4th, its overvalued cause actual earnings & bit of AI can disrupt the market fantasy too. The peanut gallery is something www.businessinsider.com/palantir-man...
Well let's see how the market is going to respond to that unhinged (Saturday of all days) Palantir manifesto. Will arrogance be read as confidence? Burry's tweet about shorting PLTR pushed it down 14% (28% this year)and Trump's endorsement didn't really help. www.cnbc.com/2026/04/10/m...
You're so good at sticker design! Punk destroy aesthetics are so perfect for tech critiques. There's a T-shirt! octophant.threadless.com/designs/dest...
new sticker design soon, still need to decide a quantity and place order
This gives a temperature on how a lot of people in power are thinking about errors in LLMs. It assumes or rather orders the public not to care about "hallucinating". Deep denial of how AI tools fail, will inevitably harm their business. Mistakes cost money; the rich underestimate the long term #
Habibi please send over here. These are so good❤️
I’m sure this is unrelated to the fact that last month data workers revealed they were asked by Meta to review video from Meta Ray Bans of user’s intimate moments like having sex or using the bathroom.
Money is raised in the AI sector because of the "race" for AI with China means big government contracts and support. PArt of this race is governance. But would this paper even be legal in China or would it would violate their laws for misrepresenting tools and making them seem human?
They're publishing "welfare" audits on whether or not AI is "content" now. We need to regulate & change norms on how we speak about AI. Anthropic-morphizing might be great marketing but it confuses people making important decisions on AI. Unsafe myth modelling. www-cdn.anthropic.com/08ab91580709...
Famously vengeful Knicks owner Jim Dolan has long spied on people at his iconic arenas. WIRED goes deep inside the operation that allegedly tracked a trans woman, lawyers, protesters, and more. www.wired.com/story/madiso...
Gold fever. Browse through AI events in SF. Thousands of people trying to get in to pizza parties and AI native hacker nights. Everyone is desperate trying to get it on the big boom. But look at the start ups raising money, many don't even have products. What justifies the valuations? Only FOMO.
🔇🔇🔇 On Friday April 17th (9am PDT/5pm CET/7pm EAT), we'll have a virtual event introducing our Refugees, Migrants and AI research program which centers the lived experiences of refugees and migrants and puts power back into their hands🧵

Beeple has a show in palo alto opening this week. This art basel piece works much better in situ I have to admit.
How come boutique consultancy Pardon that runs art galleries and similar creative projects is funding the weird silicon valley right wing magazine Palladium which is run by people with white supremacist background and Thiel connections. Anyone know? letter.palladiummag.com/p/pardon-und...
reads: Introduction In March 2026, an Anthropic employee released the source code of Claude Code, a wrapper around their large language model that is widely used to generate code in programming tasks. Its thousands of lines of Typescript code contained many hopeful prompts and in cantations to shape Claude’s behaviour. Here are some examples: “Report outcomes faithfully”; “Never characterize incomplete or broken work as done”; “Be careful not to introduce security vulnerabilities ” (prompts.ts in Anthropic 2026) . There is more than a passing resemblance here to the Azande witch -doctor apprentice who, while stirring the medicine, utters: “You medicine which I am cooking, mind you always speak the truth to me. Do not let anyone injure me with his witchcraft, but le t me recognize all witches. … Let me be expert at the witch -doctor’s craft so that people will give me many spears on account of my magic.” (Evans-Pritchard 1937: 93). In the case of Claude, the incantation s appeared insufficient: analysis of the codebase, which according to a company executive was “pretty much 100% written by Claude Code ”, revealed severe security vulnerabilities (Townsend 2026).
what an introductory paragraph!!
LLMs are not protected speech but design that harms and the companies have known it since before public release. This study showed 8/10 times chatbots help users plan mass violence events counterhate.com/wp-content/u...
AI psychosis is widespread because the tools are designed for attributing human traits & framed as unknowable or alien. I received an ad for a 7 week class on how to form a relationship with AI post emergent behavior. Its not that different from research I've read. Employees aren't immune
“…legal pressure is now colliding directly with OpenAI’s legislative strategy: the company is backing an Illinois bill that would shield AI labs from liability even in cases involving mass deaths or catastrophic financial harm.”
Yes totally. I try to keep up w the landscape of people concerned about AI and it has shifted so much. People aren't aware and they feel powerless and it's not their fault. Lack of public power benefits the powerful. We need so much more public facing ed but it's gotten a bit b&w hype or fantasy.
Both at work and in social communities dealing with AI there's little acknowledgement for the pressures of health, economic, politics as they meet the fantastical fear mongering in the AI sector. It's not healthy or helpful and it's harmful to people who need health care and support.
Someone threw a Molotov at Sam Altman's house. This isn't the first time people at AI companies have experienced violence. Anger is not the cause, many are angry. There's a lack of mental health support & education for communities on how and when to get help for people with concerning behavior.
I have a friend working in a school district who meets with students via video and she's had multiple students use Chatbots to answer instead of talk to her. About lunch options and what they like to eat.
This folk singer had her videos and music (including family ballads) run through AI generators and uploaded back to Spotify and YouTube by some trolls who then claimed copyright and blocked her out. Distributor backed down after this video went viral www.instagram.com/reel/DWl8C6K...
Context: tomorrow's Artemis flight is using basically v60 of my dad's work. He was at Philco, & they won the contract to pioneer this stuff. He wrote the mission rules + flight data requirements like if this happens we should do that for the EECOM station and manned the controller. Kanaka navigator!
Typewritten resume with long list of equipment, transmitters etc. in detail at bottom in pen says "spacecraft: Apollo"
yearbook page black and white photos of military one has dark, skinned man in uniform shaking hands with white officers. caption says Howell B.S. Wong honorman
My dad died. He was a flight controller for the first unmanned Apollo mission 1966. Honorman at his barely desegregated boot camp in 1956. Always top of class & NATIVE HAWAIIAN! He came from fisherman, farmers, railroad workers, & sugarcane plantations. He was the world's best dad.
💗Rest in AC/DC💗
Andrew Ng frames AI critique. The messages that travel best are usually the ones that are more simple but also less true: thus easy to dismiss or lump as Ng does here. It's a set belief; but its also a reminder we need targeted public critical communication/edu. www.linkedin.com/posts/andrew...
