Cultural property and religious sites cannot be directly attacked. Protecting heritage and places of worship safeguards people’s identity and dignity.
Under international humanitarian law, cultural property and religious sites must be protected at all times.
Their destruction is not only material: it damages cultural identity, disrupts the continuity of heritage & harms the shared legacy of communities.

A reminder that your story isn’t over — even when it feels like it is.
For years, this symbol has been carried by people across the world through moments they didn’t think they’d survive.
Today, we show up for them — and for each other.

Victims and survivors of sexual violence in armed conflict often face additional barriers to meeting their needs, largely driven by fear of stigma. This makes prevention and response all the more urgent: sexual violence should never occur, and parties to armed conflict have a clear duty to prevent it and to ensure survivors can safely access the medical care and support they need.
Stigma keeps many survivors/victims of sexual violence in armed conflict from accessing care.
This must change. Sexual violence is never allowed, and parties to conflict must prevent it and ensure safe access to support.

Last week, we facilitated the repatriation of the remains of fallen soldiers from both the Russian and Ukrainian sides, at the request of both parties. These operations are an important humanitarian step to ensure the deceased are treated with dignity and respect. They help enable identification and provide answers to relatives who are awaiting news, while allowing families to lay their loved ones to rest in accordance with their wishes and traditions. We remain committed to supporting the efforts to uphold the dignity of the deceased. Our teams continue to assist families seeking answers: they deserve to know what happened to their loved ones and where they are
