I’ve been pushing for improvements to local routes and lobbying Transport for London for better funding, including a successful campaign to improve the reliability of the 154.

Great to visit Sutton Bus Garage and meet the drivers, engineers and managers who keep our buses running day in, day out.
Reliable bus services are a lifeline for our area as one of the few parts of London without the Tube.

The Government is paying businesses to create jobs they were previously happy to create – before the cost of creating jobs became too high.
It’s economic madness.

Yet when the Government released its much-anticipated “Fraud Strategy”, it barely made a ripple.
Why? Because a key pre-election pledge to make the Big Tech firms pay for their inaction appears to have been quietly dropped.
Fraud is a devastating crime that can destroy people’s life savings and plunge them into debt. In fact, it’s now the most common crime in Britain.

One key issue raised with me was the need for an education system that properly supports children with Down's Syndrome – I’ve raised this in Parliament and will continue to press the Government on it.
I really enjoyed joining Get On Downs at their recent event in Wallington.
It was great to see children enjoying all the activities on offer and to hear from parents and carers about the vital support this local charity provides all year round.

Lenders have said in the past this redress scheme could threaten their industry and even the wider economy. But throughout this process the motor finance industry has remained strong. Now is the time to accept responsibility and pay consumers what they are owed.
5/5
But some experts warn that some consumers may be leaving a lot of money on the table, as the average payout in the courts could be higher.

The key thing for consumers to weigh up is whether or not they think they will get what they are owed under this scheme. In theory, this should be a quick and simple way to get compensation.
3/5
Though I fear that this is not the end of this long-running saga, with widespread rumours that lenders want to continue to evade responsibility and drag this out via the courts. Banks should think carefully about what signal this sends to consumers after being caught out for unfair practices.

It is good to see the FCA finally publish its redress scheme, clearly a lot of work has been put in on the back of wide-ranging feedback.

People are working hard, doing the right thing and still struggling to make ends meet. The cost of living crisis hasn’t ended– it’s just become the norm for too many families.
The Government must focus on what really matters: making life genuinely affordable again. (1/2)
The UK is in the grips of a dire housing crisis. Councils building more homes can be part of the solution.
I asked the Chancellor, Rachel Reeves, whether the Treasury looks at the full cost and savings of council homes before setting borrowing limits.

The local NHS has a plan to tackle this by extending our A&E – now the Government needs to get behind it and fund the project.
I’ll be following up with the Minister to set out the case in detail, and visiting St Helier on Friday to see the pressures facing staff and patients first-hand.
I pressed the Health Minister on the urgent need to extend St Helier Hospital’s A&E.
My inbox is full of local people's stories about overcrowding, long waits, lack of privacy and corridor care at our hospital.

It was a pleasure to join local residents celebrating Holi, the vibrant Hindu festival of colours, at events in Beddington Park and Manor Park.
Wonderful to see our community coming together in such a joyful way.
I’ll keep pressing the case for St Helier with the Minister and working with the local NHS to secure the funding we need.
I’ll keep everyone updated and will share a clip of the full debate in the next few days.
I’ve just come out of my debate in Parliament where I pressed the Health Minister on the need for an A&E extension at St Helier Hospital.
She said a fund will be made available to upgrade A&Es across the country, which is encouraging for our campaign.
Nothing Rachel Reeves announced today in her Spring Statement will be felt by people in the real world. Families still feel just as squeezed this year as they did last year.
I asked the Chancellor directly: when will people actually feel things getting more affordable?
I recently wrote in the Sutton Guardian about our campaign to extend St Helier’s A&E department – and why it matters so much for local patients and NHS staff
On Wednesday, I’ll be raising this directly with the Health Minister to press for urgent action

BREAKING: I've secured a debate in Parliament next week on NHS spending.
I'll be making the case for expanding St Helier's A&E directly to the Health Minister.
The system has changed so much from the time it was introduced, it’s about time Parliament debated it properly.
The Labour Government's freeze on student loan repayment thresholds will hit graduates hard, whilst high interest rates mean that most of their debt is growing faster than they can pay it off.
The last time council housing was built at mass scale, we didn’t rely on private developers to deliver them.
It is time to allow councils to borrow to build a new generation of social homes. They pay for themselves over the long run.
I'm calling on the Government to back the project.

Did you know there's a small infrastructure project in Croydon that could unlock better train services for our whole borough?
The proposed Croydon Area Remodelling Scheme (CARS) would be a game changer for the capacity, frequency and reliability of train services in Carshalton & Wallington.
