Honestly canโt wait to see how the jackets turn out.

We stopped at an overlook in the Great Smoky Mountains one afternoon, hoping to get a nice shot of a mountain sunset. While we waited for the planet to rotate into a more picturesque point of view, I spotted this bumblebee gathering pollen from a nearby flower in the clover. Someone told me that particular plant is a rare find, but I don't know enough about plants to verify.
A butterfly on our irises.
These two moths (am I right about that?) in a mirror pose on either side of a thistle blossom caught my eye.
The bumblebee (and tiny ant) on this blossom were captured behind the Discovery Center in the Murfree Springs wetlands in Murfreesboro, Tn. The burst of color made a nice print when enlarged! My wife has the photo framed and hanging in her office.
Plan to step away from the political abyss for the day, so I thought I'd pull up some of my non-bird nature photos, letting the bees, butterflies and moths have the spotlight for a change. Wishing everyone a day of sanity, while we reboot for another week in the spin cycle.

Ah ok so it was trying to get some light.
Itโs pretty crazy. Iโve never seen one go to that extent to grow horizontally.

Iโve only ever had leaf curl once. It was with Arkansas Traveler. It didnโt recover. Hope you get it sorted out & transplant successfully!
Thank you, Sandra. Heโs no doubt guarding folks in paradise as we type. ๐ฅฐ
Thank you. ๐ซ๐ฏ๏ธ๐
Thank you. ๐ค
Yes it is. ๐ค
Thanks, Wendy. He did indeed live a good, long life. I was lucky to have such an amazing adventure buddy for so long.
Thanks Brent. You know how it goes. Our furry bffs are hard to let go of, but I wouldnโt trade it for anything in the world. ๐ค
Dutch Shepherd dog with back to camera looking out at landscape. Dry high desert grasses on the ground with a dirt road to the right of him & a forest service truck & forest in the background. Yearly pilgrimage to Hull Cabin for the Stagecoach 100 race up on the south rim of the Gran Canyon. He camped outside the cabin & cheered runners on all night.
Senior Dutch Shepherd dog sitting down looking very lovey with his big soft eyes & very dapper with his checked scarf on.
A cream sable colored Shepsky puppy standing next to her buddy the Dutch Shepherd dog, telling him some things in his right ear. Both standing on a desert trail with a mountain & clouds in the background on a bright sunny day.
A senior Dutch Shepherd & a Shepsky pup laying on the grass in front of Upper Lake Mary just chillin after playing in the stinky water.
He had zero patience for fools, & a less than 30 second warning system. He was natureโs way of putting a mirror up in front of me. He made me a better person. Like my first cat, Azriel, who I had for 23 years & was my heart kitty, he was my #1 heart dog. Juniper Jones & I miss him terribly. ๐ค๐๐ฏ๏ธ๐๐พ

HI. Close up of a Dutch Shepherd dogโs face - golden brindle dog with a black mask & amber eyes. Perspective makes his snout & sweet eyes the focus. ๐
THE CUTEST DUTCH SHEPHERD DOG EVER laying on the floor with his โKiss Meโ stuffed shamrock. His gotcha day was Paddyโs Day. Best luck ever! ๐
He was a stray for his first year of life before I sprung him from the dog klink. So a man easily won over with food. The smoked salmon my friends sent from the PNW was his favorite. He would twist himself in knots trying to figure out what he could do to get more of it (same, buddy, same). 3/

Dutch Shepherd dog sitting in the doorway of a small tent, blending into the landscape, mountains in the background.
The most exhausted Dutch Shepherd dog youโve ever seen clambering into the car & laying on top of the backpacks to try & get some shut eye after a long night of guard dogging against the elk & moose & deer & all else he heard going bump in the night outside the tent. ๐๏ธ
He was the best trail running buddy you could ask for. He loved hiking & climbing mountains, loved herding & protecting his trail people. Thoroughly enjoyed camping, though he would wear himself ragged guard dogging all night if there was a lot of animal activity in the area. 2/

Had to say goodbye to Handsome Joe this week. He was the bestest of boys. 15 years of adventure & loyal companionship. Dutch Shepherds arenโt the dog for everyone but he was definitely the dog for me. Kept me on my toes & made me work for his affection & trust. 1/
For the first time in decades, consensus broke at the UN Commission on the Status of Women. The United States cast the lone โnoโ vote on a document aimed at improving justice systems for women and girls worldwide. Misogyny is the official policy of the US under Trump.
Yup. It was so hot this winter. So many things bolted early. So much powdery mildew. Definitely planting some tomatoes in monsoon. My peppers did great last monsoon. Going to start & keep some transplants ready indoors to plant out so I can experiment & see what timing changes work.
