No Wrongful Execution for Tony Carruthers Tony Carruthers was convicted without physical evidence, based solely on testimony from informants. Now, Tony is scheduled for execution on May 21st by Tennessee after being forced to represent himself at trial. Join us in calling for fingerprint and DNA testing before a possibly innocent man is put to death.

One month from today, Tennessee might execute an innocent man. The state refuses to conduct basic DNA and fingerprint tests that could show that Tony Carruthers did not commit the crime.

Tell Tennessee to make sure they got the right person before taking this irreversible action.

Gee, I wonder why they had to pre-record Trump’s segment of ‘America Reads the Bible’? Could it possibly be his lifelong lack of reading skills?

Bosnian Serbs Wield Islamophobia to Gain Support for Secession In U.S. and Israel meetings, Bosnian Serb leaders used anti-Muslim rhetoric to gain support for their ethno-nationalist separatist project.

Russian-backed Bosnian Serb leader Milorad Dodik, ousted from office last year, has nevertheless extended his hostile campaign against #Bosnia’s Muslim community.

Ben Gerstein outlines the rhetoric, including in recent meetings in the U.S. and Israel:

Next time you’re in line at the Genius Bar ponder this sentence from DJT:

“When I got the call I said, wow, it’s Tim Apple (Cook!) calling, how big is that? I was very impressed with myself to have the head of Apple calling to “kiss my ass.” 🍏

Ms. Sherman, who went on to become deputy secretary of state in the Biden administration, would go into these negotiations with a large posse. She often had the C.I.A.’s top Iran expert in the room, or nearby. So was the energy secretary, Ernest Moniz, an expert in nuclear weapons design. Proposals floated by the Iranians would be sent back to the U.S. national laboratories, where weapons are designed and tested, for expert analysis of whether the agreements being discussed would keep Iran at least a year away from a bomb.

But Mr. Trump’s negotiating team travels light, with no entourage of experts and few briefings. Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, the president’s son-in-law and the special envoy, learned their negotiating skills in New York real estate and say a deal is a deal. They say they have immersed themselves in the details of the Iran program, and know it well.

I think David Sanger is one of the most dangerous sanewashers of Trump's instability & this column ignores extent to which Iran War is a global negotiation & Trump is increasingly less likely to be the decided. But Trump reads him these two ¶¶ say quite a bit.

Young people hate today's job market. You can't blame it all on AI Their bad vibes are backed up by hard evidence.

⚠️ For 70 years, a bachelor's degree was the most reliable on-ramp to a stable career.

That's no longer true. And that's before AI hits entry-level work at scale.

I have always been a big fan of Tim Cook, and likewise, Steve Jobs, but if Steve was not taken from the Planet Earth so young, and ran the company instead of Tim, the company would have done well, but nowhere near as well as it has under Tim. For me it began with a phone call from Tim at the beginning of my First Term. He had a fairly large problem that only I, as President, could fix. Most people would have paid millions of dollars to a consultant, who I probably would not have known, but who would say that he knew me well. The fees would be paid but the job would not have gotten done. When I got the call I said, wow, it’s Tim Apple (Cook!) calling, how big is that? I was very impressed with myself to have the head of Apple calling to “kiss my ass.” Anyway, he explained his problem, a tough one it was, I felt he was right and got it taken care of, quickly and effectively. That was the beginning of a long and very nice relationship. During my five years as President, Tim would call me, but never too much, and I would help him where I could. Years latter, after 3 or 4 BIG HELPS, I started to say to people, anyone who would listen, that this guy is an amazing manager and leader. He makes these calls to me, I help him out (but not always, because he will, on occasion, be too aggressive in his ask!), and he gets the job done, QUICKLY, without a dime being given to those very expensive (millions of dollars!) consultants around town who sometimes get it done, and sometimes don’t. Anyway, Tim Cook had an AMAZING career, almost incomparable, and will go on and continue to do great work for Apple, and whatever else he chooses to work on. Quite simply, Tim Cook is an incredible guy!!! President DONALD J. TRUMP

Trump has posted about Tim Cook. It is slightly unhinged. Somehow Cook retiring is all about Trump.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is using official press releases to message that Westerners (they mean white people) are superior to people from the Global South (they mean non-white people). This is a dangerous, backwards position for our government to take.

/also, "murdered .. to death"?

Dismantling Voice of America was one of the most devastating things I’ve witnessed. VOA wasn’t propaganda, it was proof that free press could criticize its own leaders and still survive. And now we’re throwing away one of our greatest tools of freedom.

Opinion | The Trump Administration Is Coming After Birth Control Access in a Terrifying New Way

Jill Filipovic: "Modern contraception is nothing short of a medical miracle — one that has saved the lives of millions of women and babies worldwide. Not satisfied with the end of legal abortion in America, the anti-abortion movement seems poised to end the era of affordable contraception."

With the leak to the NYT of their internal notes to each other, I hope the conservative justices on SCOTUS are currently *very* paranoid about talking to each other. Because at least one of them is (or has staff who is) indiscreet and disloyal.

Keep looking over your shoulders, fascists!
