I feel it's the same as reviews, basically - don't tag them in, don't be unnecessarily cruel, try to see the merits even if it's not personally to your taste. But if there's discussion about it happening somewhere on the internet that's not your back yard, that's fine!

If I had a hot tub I would always be posting from the hot tub, I can tell you that
two images of the human body's circulatory system. One of them with good cable management

Four cardinals in the Vatican library looking at a flip phone showing the tweet and furiously debating whether he's just profoundly misunderstood just war theory or if he just googled it and thinks the word "just" means "do a bit of, as a treat"
Haven't read the Doctorow but they seem to be more solidly in the technothriller genre, which might be why they don't get a lot of attention in genre circles?
I use Yolla to call UK landlines from abroad on my mobile, little bit pricier than Skype (depending on country) but does the job.

BREAKING: Following the American threat of an “Avignon Papacy,” Robert Kennedy has begun a Diet of Worms
“My patient is refusing a drug studied in 170,000 people because of side effects that a 124,000-person analysis just confirmed do not exist — while injecting a compound studied in 14 humans, from unregulated sources, based on the recommendation of someone who profits from selling it.”
have entered the bargaining phase of the year where I say things like "sure it's 36C today but it could be worse" and "at least there's a bit of a breeze" while I try not to expire from heatstroke
Today, MSF is going public with something we've been fighting behind closed doors for months: Gilead will not sell us their new HIV drug, lenacapavir.
The sticking point isn't even price, they just refuse to sell.

If fertiliser isn't moving through the Strait of Hormuz in two weeks' time, we won't be debating any more, we'll be sending in aid. If it's not moving in four weeks, we'll be managing instability. It's time to act on the agricultural calendar, not the diplomatic one.
Grim. Every week this goes on is compounding the collective price paid. www.ft.com/content/c139...

We still have EPH, which will work against any slate, so I say post your recommendations again: people will read them and nominate where they agree with you, if they treat it like a slate they will get down-weighted anyway. And then more people read/watch/play good stuff.

A good-looking Nebula list but slightly weird to see some nominees pending while they confirm no LLM usage, but not Clair Obscur which lost the indie GOTY for it: www.polygon.com/clair-obscur... I guess they only count specific use in the writing?
An AI image of a metallic globe with a shiny core, with the label below "World-Building in Science Fiction Award"
I think the DALL-E prompt in the filepath is a strong indicator of AI. They have a perfectly nice statue pictured elsewhere, they just didn't delete the placeholder images i0.wp.com/thealdissawa...
harsh, LLM would probably format the long list consistently
If only we had a successful programme to support labs to tackle this in low and middle income countries www.thelancet.com/journals/lan...

I need a name for when you lose at LearnedLeague but you get the three-pointer correct. Yes I am failing at the basics but I know the longest-serving governor of Massachusetts, you wouldn't believe the depths of useless trivia in here
