@qzoeholmes.bsky.social hey could you point me to work around dealing with "sidestepping" the gradient vanishing problem of ansatz (in context of adjoint is all you need)
so people who've solved big problems by just not dealing with it? like say using 4 blocks of 5Q as opposed to single 20Q nlocal

almost 10 years in and react and graphql are the only two pieces of software my opinion has never changed on.
so overpowered that they're basically actively destructive for medium projects. they hijack the entire structure and layout of the repo to be around them
ngl i still don't like react's popularity. its like using a chainsaw to cut craft paper, and every year there is a new secret incantation to use the chainsaw correctly
(i still like the new tech that came out as a result of it tho. team did good work. some of em fixie wixie'd the fucksy wuxie bugs)
Even if everyone who has remotely touched a game gave a standing ovation for Ross Scott (Accursed Farms)
it would not be enough of a thank you
as someone who enjoys cinema, games, and wasting my time. I cannot seem to decide who is my internet jesus
Gabe Newel, or Keanu Reeves
space is the one place where a traditional phone is absolutely useless because no signal and yet astronauts had an iPhone with them
what a free gold ad Apple got out of it
A picture of earth in all its glory as the Artemis 2 crew looks at it. Posted by nasa in a post titled "NASA"
Thank You, NASA
i would please like suzuka back as the last race on the calender. yas marina can go fuck itself
under appreciated joke
the nerds should be ashamed
As a lifelong #space nerd I will be posting about this mission until the four astronauts return safely to Earth. #ArtemisII #NASA #Moon #Adastraperaspera

Guys can we plis not have an oil shortage in Japan. It tends to not go well
Intelligence seems to be one of those words like consciousness where we keep moving the goal posts continuously
The antiAI crowd is similar. Rather than trying to understand/study what else intelligence can mean or imply; they just keep moving the goal posts (for diverse reasons tbh)
The rust community continues to make great strides in being inclusive and accepting
@svelte.dev hey can i do this natively? without lang=scss
i have now officially visited /settings/usage on claude than /search on google
enshittification is really understating it, at this point it is
horribling
beyond just the fact that there are little gotchas isnt it also that EastinKnill assumes perfect satisfaction of the KL conditions
Code words which are AQEC (beny oreshkov etal) or probabilistic qec may have to be reexamined for their ability to generate a universal gateset
I actually don't want HTMLinCanvas to happen purely because I know I won't be able to stop myself from using it in the most unhinged ways possible in which it was just not meant for
eric weisstein has single handedly held up the careers of many a grad student
you may disagree, but
i have managed to put that picture in your head now
the name-spacing and consistency of the golang stdlib is so good it can be framed and sold as art from sothebys
For context there are specialized orchids which consume orders of magnitude more water than this
rice and paddy is not even the same race
so apparently the okonomiyaki war in japan is bigger than the pizza war between NY pizza and chicago bread casserole
I'm legit all for non deterministic compilers. Even for us in quantum land. The best circuit compilers are all non deterministic RL based or optimization based
(They're also MUCH MUCH harder to debug because it's harder to find why it made a certain choice)
heyo, i work in academia. my prof is very busy after which the lab in charge (experimental phy). so their calendars are public so we work around their schedule
everyone else can just request each other a meeting (google cal, works w ical). so theres a hierarchy but of time not responsibility
@mehdirhasan.bsky.social we're brothers in rule of 3
what an amazing book :). i had read schopenhauer art of controversy, and it felt too theoretical and in some sense ideological. your book was a lot more practical and pragmatic
I don't know what has happened to sci-ed lately. its so weird. its like people want the legitimacy of claiming they know science w/o actually getting into the threads
even the "dyson sphere" thing was meant to be a joke. but somehow techbro reddit mods are v eager to say "iTs A sCiEntiFiC pApEr"
I have given all my LLMs personas from Asimov characters. So at least this way Daneel and Giskard can never make the mistake of thinking its remotely human
as a side benefit I anthropomorphize it w/o risk of treating it like a human. so its like a win, but only for conversational convenience
self hosting his almost comically cheaper than using someone else's stack
my llm providers bills used to come in scientific notation
