Maybe it’s all the negative expectations I had of the querying trenches, but so far I have to say it’s not bad! Yes, QT has me in a chokehold. But rejections are not the gut punches I expected and the waiting seems manageable. Maybe my standards were just that low 😂

Despite Mondays being my perfect, distraction free nights to write…I just didn’t have the mental energy for it tonight. Down side, my word count was not increased. Up side, my crochet bear project got itself legs!

Querying THE HOUSE THAT BUILT US. Perfect for anyone who loves a low-stakes novel with real, relatable characters.
Three sisters find out their parents are selling their childhood home. What kind of impact will it have on these three different women?

Someone tell me why I have my main character a love of plants and gardening when I have zero knowledge of how to keep any vegetation alive 😭

I’m in love with my new WIP. Maybe too much…now I’m convinced this work is the gold that will get me published, and my first book that I’m currently querying is garbage 😅. Whoops.

What more important - solid line-level writing, or a plot hitting all the right beats?

I intend to jump into the query trenches for the first time in the next few hours with THE HOUSE THAT BUILT US. Wish me luck!

Over 700 words written tonight! Also, it was the first time I’d listened to music (instrumental) while writing. While I very un-popularly find music overrated as a whole, I found it rather focusing. I’ll have to try again and report back!

Will I have time to write my own stuff and add edits to to a few pieces from my writing group? Unlikely. But it’s so nice to HAVE a writing group that I honestly don’t mind ❤️

Got 10 books for $12 at a library book sale! Huge win. But also, couldn’t help but imagine donating a future copy of a book I publish for someone to randomly get some joy out of one day❤️

As I’m #revpitwaiting I’m mentally psyching myself up to dive into the query trenches next week with this project (in the likely scenario that it is not chosen as a winner). I’m ready to let THE HOUSE THAT BUILT US spread its wings and see if it can fly!

Can someone else claim this one so I don’t have to go find another comp title 😫
Is 2023 a big no-go for a comp title to query something this year?
Finally read Where the Crawdads Sing - phenomenal! I’m stingy with my 5 stars but that one earned it.
18! That’s me!! 😍
Super appreciate the extra time/work and you working to get them to us early!!
Thanks for the charts! Are we allowed to know how many submissions you got total? Just being nosy 😅
Georgianna was a side character in the book I submitted, and she’s now getting her very own spin off, I love her so much. I tried to give her a romance but I’m afraid it’s turned into an anti-romance novel instead 🫣
Anyone else written an anti-romance?
What advice do you have for multi-POV contemporary fiction? My book is triple POV, and I don’t want to fall into any common pitfalls! I already am trying to make the three sisters have unique voices from each other.
I love to crochet! That’s beautiful! I’m doing stuffed animals for the first time this year.
Hello! How do you feel about multi-POVs? I split my book (adult, women’s fiction) into three POVs to better see all angles of a family from every sisters’ POV. Do you find these types of books to be more challenging to get into?
I have a multi-POV story! It was important to me that you can see the Hammond family through the eyes of all 3 sisters and experience how different their perspectives are. I have a soft spot for the middle sister, but they are all flawed, beautiful characters.
My #revpit book is about three sisters who find out their parents are selling their childhood home.
Genre: Adult women’s fiction
My book has real world stakes, a focus on family relationships, and triple-POV so you can see the world through each sister’s unique perspective.
I love charts and data - this would be awesome!
