You should know that a big part of 18F's work was to make sure multi-million to multi-*hundreds*-of-millions dollar contracts at fed *and* state level didn't go to shitty enterprise IT consultancies that *repeatedly* delivered tech that didn't work, was late, or didn't even do what it needed to
Lower Manhattan's economy has gotten an almost billion-dollar boost in just the first month of congestion pricing's existence, the MTA said on Wednesday.
18F was doing exactly the type of work that DOGE claims to want – yet we were eliminated shortly after midnight. Read our letter to the American people:

Again, the richest man in human history personally individually directed this
Every day, we get more evidence that congestion pricing is making car trips faster in Manhattan, making bus travel more reliable, and increasing the use & load factor of our mass transit system. Cannot think of a recent policy that has been so *immediately* successful. www.fox5ny.com/news/has-nyc...
You really can feel it. I walked all over Midtown yesterday and one of the most notable things was how quiet it was, at least compared to before congestion pricing. Far less honking than I'm used to, for example.
NEW: There's been a 51-percent drop in injuries an a 55-percent drop in crashes year-over-year within the congestion relief zone in just the first 12 days of the program. nyc.streetsblog.org/2025/01/23/c...
It is truly wild that it is estimated that more than 20 million people died of Covid and the prevailing vibe is that the world overreacted. That is an astonishing toll! More people died of Covid in the US than in the Civil War. www.pbs.org/newshour/hea...
The absolute recklessness of this petition cannot be underestimated.
The polio vaccine is one of the greatest medical achievements in history.
A reminder that 1 in 200 infections leads to irreversible paralysis.
Polio cannot be cured.
But it can be prevented.

Addressing the housing crisis is not difficult.
The first step is to build more homes.
If that's not possible, consider eliminating minimum parking requirements 😉
I think you just pass the “--inverted” option when you generate the graph
Yeah I think they really do take some time to “get.” But super useful once your head is there.
This page (and the presentation + YouTube video farther down) were helpful for me.
Alsoo try flipping them upside down, I think it’s way more intuitive

Memray is pretty sweet
Cuomo’s retaliation against Bennett was bankrolled by New York taxpayers, who have been footing the bill for Cuomo’s legal defense in various sexual harassment proceedings to the tune of about $25 million. law.com/newyorklawjo...
People riding in a bike-lane
“Every $1,300 New York invested in building bike-lanes in 2015 provided benefits equivalent to 1 additional year of life at full health over the lifetime of all city residents, according to a new economic assessment.”
Bike-lanes are a sound public health investment.

i mean you gotta figure in this day and age, you know, with everything that’s been going on
I think they’re just all positioning themselves to try and eat everyone else’s lunch! They know they aren’t going win by owning compute or storage of any kind; they all want to win on metadata, UI, etc.
Also the phrase sounds technical lol.
if bsky is twitter on atproto
