We then pushed it further
🦠 Tracking M. marinum-induced damage in Dicty
🧫 Monitoring Gal3 recruitment after LLOMe in mammalian cells
As a proof of concept ✨
We used Dictyostelium cells expressing two ESCRT reporters: Alix & Vps32.
→ Our approach tracks their kinetics after LLOMe-induced damage and confirms earlier recruitment of Alix after damage
To monitor membrane damage & repair in real time, we developed a robust high-throughput approach combining:
📸 live high-content imaging
📊 automated quantification
🧬 stable, homogeneous reporter cell lines
🧵 Tiny organisms, big advantages!
💥Our latest @embojournal.org on membrane damage and repair. Di @dichen02.bsky.social @crick.ac.uk found that calcium is a conserved signal for ATG8/LC3 lipidation on membranes using novel probes to record calcium leakage. Congratulations Di et al!

Very excited to share our recently published work on NTM and their response to acid stress!
As my first paper, I’m especially grateful for the support and guidance from @luizcarvalholab.bsky.social , Rachel and @maxgg.bsky.social . More to come!
🚨 New preprint!
Together with @carobarisch.bsky.social lab, we investigated how intracellular compartmentalization shapes lipid acquisition in mycobacteria
Interestingly, deleting one FACL enzyme (FACL6) revealed striking compartment-dependent phenotypes 🔬
Check it out: doi.org/10.64898/202...
🎉 Big news! Last Saturday, Thierry was awarded the Egon Naef Foundation Prize for in vitro research 🏆 A wonderful recognition of his innovative work throughout his career developing alternatives to animal testing 👏

🚨 Preprint alert 🚨
In this study, we reveal how a calcium-sensing protein coordinates membrane damage sensing with repair pathways in response to damage from intracellular mycobacteria
Huge congrats to @guallar-garrido.bsky.social for leading this project! 🤩👏

Thanks a lot Pierre ☺️✨
🚨 Want to know how we demonstrated the importance of sterol-rich membrane microdomains for M. marinum infection?
Check out our latest paper published in Science Advances 👇

✨ Big thanks to everyone, especially Cristina Boehm-Bosmani, @soldatilab.bsky.social ! ✨
New paper out! 🚨
We uncover how Mycobacterium marinum (red) exploits host sterol-rich membrane microdomains (green) to damage and escape from its phagosome
Huge shoutout to @angieprrt.bsky.social and Cristina Bosmani for their very elegant work! 👏

Thank you ☺️
🚀 Latest paper form the lab is now out at @febsopenbio.bsky.social

Really honoured and grateful to have received the Laemmli Prize ✨ A wonderful recognition of my PhD work @sciencesunige.bsky.social in the @soldatilab.bsky.social
🏆 It's a double win for the Soldati Lab! Last Friday, our former PhD students @angieprrt.bsky.social and Jahn Nitschke each received an award for their doctoral work: the Laemmli Prize for Angélique and Best Thesis in Life Sciences for Jahn. So proud of both for these well-deserved honors! 🤩
New preprint from the lab!!🎉
We show that Asgard archaea ESCRT-III proteins can trigger membrane fission and reveal its molecular mechanism, offering clues to how these cells may have built internal compartments. But do these organisms even have these compartments?

Why would Mycobacterium shed its surface right after entering a host cell? Host phagocytes rapidly strip its outer layer, releasing components that alert neighbors and trigger defense responses
Our preprint is out, curious to hear your take! 👀

Yeast cells utilize a TORC2 feedback loop for plasma membrane adaptation to mechanical stress, with increased sterol transport from plasma membrane to endoplasmic reticulum activating TORC2 signaling

🇻🇳 What a great week at the BPHCI Conference in Vietnam! @j-toinon.bsky.social and @angieprrt.bsky.social enjoyed sharing their results on M. marinum–Dicty interactions. A small crowd, but packed with brilliant science and great vibes! 🥂

Excited to share Wendy Le Mouëllic’s PhD work, now published in @pnas.org!
It reveals that M. tuberculosis depends on inorganic sulfate import to survive inside host cells—fueling essential processes such as redox balance and stress resistance.
Huge congrats to Wendy & colleagues!

Merci 😊
Our last paper just came out ! A great piece of work from the talented Laura Onillon and teammates with the pleasure to share this adventure with friendly collaborators @vincentdlft.bsky.social and @soldatilab.bsky.social !
Out today, we report how small chemical modifications in the metabolism of ergosterol are needed for yeast membranes to phase seperate into ordered yet fluid domains www.science.org/doi/10.1126/... (1/n)
🚨 Great story released by @gm-charriere.bsky.social and co.!
They identified and characterised a natural interaction between amoebae and Vibrio, pointing to Paramoeba as a potential reservoir of oyster pathogens 🦪
Congrats! 🥂

Did you know the cell wall of mycobacteria isn’t just for protection? 🧱👀 Here, Mycobacterium marinum sheds its outer capsule right after being eaten by Dicty! A sneaky move that affects even nearby cells… #FluorescenceFriday #Mycobacteria #CellBiology #Infection #3Rmodels #Phagocytosis
