Hello from a Modern team member in New Orleans! Yesterday in Algiers Point 🧤
The image is a flow diagram titled “Decarbonizing Natural Gas at the Meter.” It illustrates the role of Modern Hydrogen in the process of decarbonization. On the left, the natural gas grid connects to various end uses such as industrial process heat and steam, boilers, furnaces, and fleet fuel systems. Modern Hydrogen’s technology intervenes at the meter, depicted on the right, with a unit that splits natural gas into hydrogen and solid carbon. The hydrogen exits the system for use, while solid carbon is captured and can be utilized in applications such as asphalt (hot mix, cold mix, and sealer) for carbon sequestration. The process also produces water vapor as a byproduct. The system emphasizes biogas integration and carbon capture to decarbonize infrastructure and energy use.

There’s CARBON in here. We put it there! We strip the carbon out of natural gas before it can be combusted. It comes out as a solid. We then incorporate it into asphalt to permanently sequester it - and it makes roads stronger! It also lets you use less oil-based bitumen… so roads are cleaner, too.
Right now, we're joining U.S. Senator John Hickenlooper and former FERC Chairman Neil Chatterjee at @heatmap.news’ Election Postgame event in D.C. to discuss "What 2025 Will Bring for Climate Policy and Energy Development." Let us know if you’re at the event, too!

Hi! We’re new here. Open to suggestions for lists, feeds, and accounts re: innovations in clean tech, clean construction, and clean energy. We decarbonize natural gas by splitting methane into its two components: hydrogen and carbon. We use the carbon in asphalt products and the h2 for clean fuel.
