Doesn't look terribly happy with the wind though

I didn't read the post properly and mistook this compilation of lynx sounds good an alternative relaxing sounds to whale song. I persevered but my wife slept in the spare room with a pillow wrapped around her head
For my colleagues who love finding bizarre tortured phrases in AI writing
I love a good tortured phrase, but that one in blue is a spicy one!
I mean aside from the shocking scientific inaccuracies this feels like it was written by a 4 year old. I don't say this often but just use AI and tell it you want to lie.
I'm thinking a musical by Trey Parker and Matt Stone in the vein of The Book of Mormon would really sell his ludicrous it is.
I mean I guess it's possible for both sides to be the baddies...
I wish I had this when I was working with flies. Especially the cross planner!
I don't get many opportunities to go to conferences, but the @midlandsinnovation.bsky.social flow cytometry conference is becoming an annual fixture. Best part is that I genuinely learn new stuff every year.
I knew it
I'd tend to agree except on this specific point. It never ran its course and some of us need closure
Thanks also to Evident for supplying this part of the work, they've been brilliant in helping us land the funds, plan our building and installation and the UK manager even turned up to help with the delivery. Aman is an expert with a pallet truck.
The only sad thing right now is the microscopes need to sit in boxes for a short while while we wait for completion of building works and engineers to install but we're very excited to get to work with them.
Ignore my exhausted appearance I helped with moving the 17 (!) pallets.
It's been a concerted effort led primarily by @profkarena.bsky.social to land not one but two big grants this year to support this and I can't stress enough how big a deal this is for the @uninorthampton.bsky.social
Two very happy scientists in party hats in a room full of many boxes blowing party horns.
Yesterday I had the joy of receiving over £1 million worth of equipment from Evident Scientific. It will help us to deliver specialist teaching, support research and offer a facility to help other universities and businesses.
The tension is unbearable. I've been waiting here since 8 AM. I'm now joined by a member of management from Evident Scientific and 2 removals people, for the delivery of 17 pallets of microscope deliveries which has now been delayed until 11-12. We're all geared up and ready to go
An advertisement for a PhD position studying "Revealing the mechanistic basis of defence peptide antibacterial specificity." It shows fruit flies infected by green-fluorescent protein expressing bacteria, and describes the project and way to apply.
Very excited to be advertising this project with the excellent cosupervision of Peter Mergaert through @i2bcparissaclay.bsky.social and @uniexecec.bsky.social.
This position is open to international applicants and will involve stints in both Penryn UK and Paris France. Please share!

Twitter is a dead format. Russian bots write much better than the human idiots on Twitter. Russian bots dictate far more US public health policies than actual people.
It looks like AI had finally learned to draw hands and they're just drawing them everywhere to show off... In what way does this image make sense?
Ecology, evolution, crusty(acean) puns. I'm sold, I just need to sell it to my employer as crucial CPD that they should pay for
Both at the same time is chaotic. I knew MRC were doing it but it seemed to come out of nowhere
We won an MRC equipment bid in July and they told us we should get it next year then they told us in October we could have it only if we could spend it before the end of march
All of this. I naïvely assumed all bio students would be more computer literate than I was in 2002. But then you had to learn to use a computer. A lot of students still can't use a PC beyond browsing the internet or typing an essay and we're at risk of leaving them behind if we don't teach them
This one makes lots of demanding meows and tries to trash the rug. After on several occasions trying play, treats, early dinner we've finally established that it means he would like my wife to vacate her spot on the couch so he can do this
I'm considering running student projects in the future to try and get them to use bits of old kit that no one uses but won't let me donate/throw out/burn.
Either we get use out of equipment that's taking up space, or we have a case to get rid of it.
What's wrong with 3 waterbaths and a student intern?
I thought the Bluetooth logging system on the lab freezer was a waste of money, but on the offer it was cheaper with than without.
Today students told me the alarm was going off but they definitely hadn't had it open too long and I got to show them this
Happy new shiny toy day to me... I mean the department
I found love, lifelong friendships and experienced great collegial spirit, but seriously, good riddance to the place!
