Watching a vid on someone’s 90s vintage thrifted Halloween haul and it’s like watching an anthropologist or archaeologist theorize on my teen years and why we did things as if I’m some mysterious, near-extinct creature not seen in the wild for generations.

Of all my talents, thinking up titles to sort story collections is not one of them. And now I have to come up with two. Blargh, I stayed up til 3 editing and now I have to use my brain more?! Not cool.

Did not expect to experience a Gregorian chant version of ‘Heroes’ when channel flipping through an existential crisis, yet I strangely needed that today.

Right?! I cannot imagine dnf off six pages unless we’re talking very specific reasons. Or like…not pushing through so a plot can get going, or give the author a chance. Some titles take a few reads to click, others I may not finish now but embrace joyfully when I’m ready. This is wild.

Exactly. I would never dnf off of six pages unless there’s some really specific situations happening. I’m also notorious for stopping something when I’m just not ready/in the mood, then going back to it later and loving something. Sometimes you have to push through or try again.

Big, cozy sweaters, especially if they’re unusual. Weird designs, fun colors, franchise IP, don’t care, I just want to be cozy and if the designs give me a lift, all the better. Today’s fit is a cartoon green sweater with line drawings of T Rexes on it.

Obscure muppets. We’re talking Rufus the dog who is the most adorable thing in the world, baby Irvine on Sesame Street who is probably my Id, delightfully confused Beauregard, even Marvin Suggs though I’d definitely have words on how he treats the Muppephones.

Walking through trees. I love forests and being enclosed by nature. Maybe I was a dryad in a past life, but something in me just fundamentally relaxes when I’m surrounded by trees.

Let’s keep it going. I’m all about the pleasing memes. Time to talk about nice things.

I love all of this. It’s so important. Also adding, sometimes you don’t know right away & it’s okay to walk away at any point. And that contracts or working with a person does not mean they are entitled to anything else. From experience, it’s not easy, but you can walk away. Boundaries matter.

These are everything!! Forgive me grilling, but my costume design self will never cease to exist. What adhesive did you use and did you seal them with anything?

I freaking love Concrete Blonde and I agree. It always shocks me that more people aren’t aware of them.

That time of year I haul out my holiday story for people with complex feelings about the season. Or what happens when I mix holiday tropes with faeries, starting over, magic, and probably a dash of Andersen’s Fir Tree.

I was in wardrobe/costumes for over twenty years - random stains on odd surfaces became my life 🤣

Theoretically hand sanitizer also works (can confirm for paint on shoes and some select clothing stains, haven’t tried it on a whiteboard)
