Everything else aside, it does warm my heart knowing this Eagles team does genuinely hate the Cowboys as much as I do.

They had to give the WNBA five years of advanced warning that Philadelphia is about to enter the chat.

This is a Hall of Fame reader comment on a very reactionary op-ed about Zohran Mamdani's victory that was published in my local paper today.

It took the Vatican less time to pick a new pope than it's taking the Islanders to pick a new general manager.

I’m workshopping a “Your Best American Pope” Mitski bit. It might take a while but rest assured I’m working on it.

just so we’re all clear: the reason they keep using dolls as their example is because they’re trying to frame caring about material stuff as feminine and thus inherently shameful

Every person with a spectrum disorder has a more valuable life than RFK Jr, and every trans/nb person has a more valuable life than JK Rowling. You are a human with dignity and they are sunken demons

describing struggling people who need help as "playing video games all day"—all while giving $38 billion in gov contracts to elon musk to *literally* play video games all day—is vile on every possible level. failed state behavior

Very annoying how people keep parroting the "republicans are good for the economy" talking point which has never been true in my entire life. Mountains of historical evidence showing that it is a lie and people just went with it because it meant tax cuts for rich people.

It's advising season & I've had three conversations today w/ students trying to figure out how to get out of the US to continue graduate study in science or health professions programs. This is a disaster & GOP-controlled congress is doing NOTHING to stop destruction of CDC, NSF & NIH. #BrainDrain

UNCLE O’GRIMACEY As positive as the Shamrock Shake’s impact has been, there have been some missteps. To help promote the Shamrock Shake, McDonalds introduced the new mascot character Uncle O'Grimacey in 1975. The Irish uncle of the purple mascot Grimace, Uncle O'Grimacey (complete in his kelly green hat, shamrock-patterned vest, and a shillelagh) would travel from Ireland each year bringing Shamrock Shakes to McDonaldland. Uncle O'Grimacey was quietly phased out of McDonalds marketing after a few years due in part to an alleged incident in Philadelphia in 1978 where the person portraying him made statements in support of the IRA and that British soldiers were better dead than alive.

so mcdonald's is bringing back Uncle O'Grimacey with this year's shamrock shakes, and you need to know his history
