In Toronto, Canada we have about 3,000 now, Japan started gifted them to us in 1959 as we began making amends for the internment camps and post-war prejudice. Many Japanese Canadians now help fund the project.

Thank you Japan for your contribution to our city. We love Sakura in High Park.

Artemis 2 was the furthest human voyage from Earth. Per the final JPL Horizons trajectory I estimate the max distance from the geocenter was 413145 km at 2304 UTC Apr 6 (about 4 km less and 1 min later than PAO's report at the time). (1 / n ).....

And frogs, crickets, anything that hunts, anything trying to avoid being hunted... Everything needs to listen. This is why it's so important to pass pre-emptive noise regulations, so these things can't be built.

Scientists think dark matter might come in two forms A mysterious glow of gamma rays at the center of the Milky Way has long hinted at dark matter, but the lack of similar signals in smaller dwarf galaxies has cast doubt on that idea. Now, researchers p...

Scientists propose dark matter may consist of two interacting particle types, not one. This could explain why gamma-ray signals appear in the Milky Way but not dwarf galaxies, since detection depends on the balance of both types in each galaxy

Love the the Artemis crew.

Four extraordinary humans: brilliant, disciplined, and deeply mission-driven.

What stands out even more than their intelligence is their character.

Kindness. Positivity. Humility. Empathy.

The future of space exploration shouldn’t just be bold, it should be human.

What is the ‘overview effect’? We may be watching it play out right now in space | CNN The Artemis astronauts’ reflections echo a long described shift in perspective that occurs when humans are given the chance to view Earth from space.

“We explore outer space to benefit ourselves as humans,” White told NASA’s Gary Jordan. “Is there some larger purpose we’re fulfilling? ..., are we doing anything to benefit the universe?”

“What can we do to justify our existence, other than helping ourselves?”

PHOTO by James Wheeler. A vivid sunset ignites the sky with streaks of lavender, coral, and gold, casting their hues across a blanket of scattered clouds. Below, a perfectly still lake mirrors the dramatic canvas above, creating a seamless reflection of color and light. A narrow strip of land with silhouetted trees and distant mountains separates sky from water, anchoring the surreal scene in quiet solitude.

Sometimes, what matters most is not the light or the dark, but the in-between moment.

Pope to Olympic Athletes: “It is possible to win without humiliating. One can lose without losing oneself. And this also applies beyond sport. It applies in social life, in politics, in relationships between peoples, because sport, if lived well, becomes a workshop for a reconciled humanity.”
