Just 5 days left to find out what @fraserc69.bsky.social and I have done to poor Alex Automatic now.

Triple Retrospective: Cullins/Lightle/Colón
After wrapping up my Giffen series, I had just enough in the tank to cover 3 more comic book artists worthy of a closer look. Super proud of this massive episode.
Put the kettle on and sit back, we got some heavies to discuss.

Ultimate Spider-Man: Sandman, Kingpin and Black Cat
Description from The Met’s site - “Inspired by the modernity of London’s subway system, popularly known as the Tube, Power featured it in many of his signature linocuts. The disengaged passengers on this crowded subway—a scene familiar to many urban dwellers—prefer to read their newspapers rather than interact with one another. Alienation, a by-product of modern life, is a theme often present in Power’s images of the London Underground”.
The Tube Train, by Cyril E. Power, linocut, 1934.
Colonel Weird takes a look at all possible everythings
One of my hobbies is commissioning art from good friends of very niche characters like this one. Killer stuff as always here!

One of the rare cases where I was given a cover prompt and I actually liked what came out of it 😅
This was in homage to an old golden or silver age cover that Paul wanted to harken back to.
Old comics guys love to harken.
Have no recollection of drawing this Lone Wolf and Cub but my phone says I did years ago. Remember picking up the series for the Miller covers when I was a teen as I knew nothing about it and loving it.
I feel like Bram Stoker’s Dracula was the peak of Dracula movies and everything else is just a pale attempt to recapture that magic (except maybe Shadow of the Vampire which is severely underrated)
As a comic writer who hires artists for my projects, I've had the privilege of looking over comic artist portfolios in person and online.
I thought it might be helpful to share some of what I look for as I go through portfolios in order to help those of you who are newer.
hot take: the public domain is good actually, and there is tremendous value in it. can you imagine if Shakespeare’s plays were all owned by a single corporation in perpetuity? if Greek mythology had been annexed by a billionaire venture capitalist?
Superman v. Captain Marvel, and it’s just about the twelve year copyright battle between National and Fawcett, ultimately resulting in National, which became DC Comics, owning Captain Marvel.
since it’s Superman day, I’m reminiscing about one of my biggest tweets (when it was still called Twitter). man I was on fire then, used to have posts blowup like this all the time. it got to the point where I’d get the shakes if I didn’t go semi-viral (i’m kidding but only partially 😂)
incredible work
hot take: I kinda wish there was a modern Seduction of the Innocent-style backlash against comic books, because it would only serve to make comics more relevant and present in the public consciousness.
Happy Superman Day! Ive been filling up a Superman sketchcomic in my free time, heres some of it (pt 1)...
Happy Superman day, from Superman’s pal Bibbo!
Happy Superman Day
Happy Superman Day! One of my favorite characters to draw. While I don’t have anything new of big blue finished, here’s a look at a Wip that’s been in the pipe for a WHILE.
The plan is to finish it at some point this year. Cheers!
