Good on you to keep a check on your health. Watch the PSA and question any rise and its consequences.

My radiation treatment for prostate cancer is entirely bulk billed by Medicare. So lucky to live in a country whose taxes go to help their citizens.

I have worked at many elections in Oz and those no brainers are absolutely in the minority. It is their right to vote any way they like even if they put in a blank paper.

If you want to take advantage of our government services and all the positive aspects of our democracy in Oz you have an obligation to vote. It’s not hard!

While I get treated for prostate cancer, so grateful for our health system in Aus.
Hospital totally covered by priv health cover. Surgery fees etc nearly all covered with cover and Medicare.
All radiation and oncologist visits covers by Medicare. Hormone drugs cost $7.50 on PBS.🙏

It has to start with media not attending ON pressers and not publishing press releases. Starve their oxygen !

I think the independent Electoral Commission who manages the whole process is the key! No interference from governments at all.

Ballot papers are considered ‘live’ until results are declared by the Electoral Commission. They are then destroyed. Sometimes counting in one electorate can be repeated several times depending on distribution of preferences and the tightness of the result.

Ballot papers are secured throughout the process. Papers distributed are reconciled against totals. Boxes are sealed and cannot be opened until counting commences. Scrutineers from the parties witness the operation and counting at all times. Transfer of boxes etc is monitored through seals.

The polling booths usually have charities selling sausages and onion in bread.
Ballots are paper and pencil, counted by hand with notional results usually the night of polling day.

….. and you can buy a ‘democracy sausage’ on the day if available😎

We in Australia can vote the 2 weeks before with the voting day on a Saturday.

Australian elections are managed by a independent commission. It is compulsory to vote. Polls open at least a week before polling day. Rolls are updated each year. Voters are fined if they don’t vote. Postal votes are available.

Putting their lives in the hand of”god” just means they can absolve responsibility for everything that goes wrong in their lives…..”it was Gods way”

A product of the faulty pre selection process for politics where intelligence, education and life experience don’t seem to be considered.

It has happened to me. Most memorable was a GP in our local clinic who recognised me. It does make me nervous when they start off with…” didn’t you used to teach at?”

As a former year 3 teacher, I would read this aloud to my classes. I never could make it through the chapter where Charlotte dies without my tears and that of some of my students😁.
