I guess this is the cool place to be again so I guess I should post here. *waves* at all the #kpop folks

Radio airplay and music show appearances both require songs to be approved by the network's censors.
Bobby and BTS's rapline had a specific audience in mind that didn't involve radio play or music shows.
I finally thought of an on theme song for #KpopMonday #CandySugarPop
Patbingsu isn't candy, but it is a sweet sugary treat. Going for the more recent Billlie cover.

KpopMonday is a thing I run on the fediverse where I post a new theme each Monday and all the kpop fans post a video or videos on the theme. I've started posting the themes here because they function sort of an ice breaker and a way to find other kpop fans.
I assume that was me reposting. Lol, oops.
Finally remembering to crosspost for #KpopMonday, whoops. The theme this week is all things sugary and you can't do #CandySugarPop without the OG, "Candy" by H.O.T. youtu.be/3NUaXU1d-NY
And while we're at it, of course we can't forget the Dreamies cover: youtu.be/zuoSn3ObMz4

Still Monday, so let's have another #KpopMonday #CandySugarPop entry, this time by #Ryeowook of #SuperJunior

I tend to think Ryeowook's voice is always sweet as sugar, regardless, but I'm biased.

First Gen queen Kim Wan Sun's (aka the Korean Madonna) remake of her hit song 'The Pierrot Smiles at Us'. It the the first solo female song to reach 1 million copies sold.
The 2019 mv has both clowns and zombies and it perfect for Halloween.

Lol. This could be mine too. I've listened to all of those songs at least once in the last week. Lol
There's a nice little kpop community on the Fediverse (mastodon, etc) too.
For those in the US who hate converting time zones, early Monday morning KST means early evening Sunday in the US so you can start posting then once you see the theme or you can wait until your true Monday to post, either is fine.
Fellow kpop fans,
On the Fediverse, I host a weekly MV posting theme event, Kpop Monday. I'm going to start posting the themes here each week also so you can join in.
I'll post the theme early Monday morning KST and then everyone can post kpop MVs that fit the theme until the end of your Monday.
It's fine to validate what other people are hearing, but we should then give the proper context of the actual progression of k-music history and not leave people with incorrect assumptions of the influences on a particular artist/song.... hence my previous response.
hellos. So what you're hearing is actually Trot influence. Before k-pop as we know it now, the popular music in Korea was trot music. It's still popular with older folks and is having a bit of a resurgence in recent years.
