The current fundraising link is for EU labs to support FlyBase UK group. Still setting up to collect fees from U.S. and all other labs. Stay tuned. Divided because of recent international firewalls.
We currently have a call for support that has gone out to European labs, to support FlyBase-UK. We are asking our colleagues from labs in the US and other countries to wait for a similar call to them that will go out in the near future, to support the US sites. We thank you for your patience.
NIH funding supporting the HMMER and Infernal software projects has been terminated. NIH states that our work, as well as all other federally funded research at Harvard, is of no benefit to the US.

This firsthand experience has shown me why having an experienced and qualified leader at HHS is critical to the health and well-being of everyone in this country.
I worked in academia for HHS/NIH funded genetic databases for over 20 years and now work in the private sector on genetic variants. Throughout my entire career, I have relied on their support through grants and the numerous biomedical databases that they produce and maintain.

I have heard from internal sources that OPM and HHS personnel have started going through notices of NIH and other funding opportunities to scrub any language about DEI or gender.
Stopping fascism with $1.50 hot dogs seems on par with how this timeline has been so far.

New: Trump officials have paused all external communications at health agencies like CDC, FDA, NIH.
No health alerts and the famed MMWRs; no updates to key websites or social media posts.
And no indication how long the pause will last.

Ms. Stockhouse was a beloved band director (and so much more) at Bloomington High School North in Bloomington, Indiana for 38 years until her retirement in 2019. She died unexpectedly on Dec 23, 2024.
