The Big Help Out returns 5-8 June 2026 alongside the Big Lunch. A weekend bringing communities together, for people to lend a hand and make a positive difference in their neighbourhoods.

For 40 years communities, schools, nurseries, workplaces, and families have all come together year after year to help to raise over £1.6 billion that has supported over 100 million people.

We shared today that we’ll be running The Big Help Out in 2026 rather than this year. In this @thirdsector.co.uk blog I’ve explained why we took the decision to pause. We’re looking forward to building someone special next year.

I loved last night’s Sir Paul McCartney’s gig so much. One of the best gigs I have seen. A total legend - and with Ringo also. 36 songs in nearly 3 hours at the age of 82. I suppose it’s something to aspire to!
They say you shouldn’t meet your heroes. There is an exception and it is Sir Michael Palin. I wrote to him as a teenager and he wrote a very funny letter back. He is a lovely man and a true national treasure.
I joined Blue Sky this week, which means I only need to check 7 platforms now. I’m as excited as when I had to subscribe to 5 channels to watch sport.
