It's interesting (interesting) in Canada that Doug Ford has positioned himself as the anti-Trump crusader (soft CNN interviews) yet his behaviour at home his Trumpy. Railing against courts, interfering in local politics & democracy. At some point it has to (it has to) all come home to roost.

I keep taking things from stores, just small things, reasonable, and they keep arresting me for shop lifting.

Cars make even smart people stupid.

It's fitting that "kitchen table issues" is a reference to sitting down at your kitchen table to pay your snail-mail bills and balance your checkbook on physical paper, something which has been obsolete for decades.

“The cyclist was wearing a helmet, according to paramedics.” But no comment about the driver ignoring a crossing for cyclists and pedestrians in a speed exit. @mayormarksutcliffe.bsky.social

Crighton and Beechwood intersection featuring a dangerous slip lane

Crighton and Beechwood intersection featuring a dangerous slip lane

Unfortunately on the way back, it looks like a pedestrian or cyclist was hit by a driver of a car at Beechwood and Crighton. Police closed the road southbound, the entrance to the bike path and sidewalk forcing more people into traffic.

Slip lanes strike again.

We called this a socialist bailout when Obama stake in the auto companies in exchange for rescue money amidst an actual economic crisis.

But there is no crisis.

There are no bailout funds.

This is just a plain autocratic takeover because Trump felt like the govt should have Intel.

Smile!

Mayor asks council to limit next year's tax increase to 3.75% | CBC News Policing and transit remain critical factors that will determine the final balance as the months-long municipal budget process gets underway.

I’m obviously not a fan of Ottawa’s 2026 budget direction.

I just wish we had the honesty to tell people what this budget will really mean.

Transit will get worse, traffic will take longer, life will get more unaffordable for those who can least afford it.

One of the reasons I feel so hopeless is that everyone invents a GOP that doesn't do the unpopular stuff that it is doing and a Dem party that does do unpopular stuff that it isn't, and I just don't know a way out

3 hours in downtown Toronto a bungeecored beach umbrella will remain intact (not a scientific study but I think it may surprise some conservatives who are terrified of the city).

Writers festivals on notice after attempt to 'restrict speech' prompts exodus A Victorian writers festival's code of conduct has set a "dangerous precedent", one author says, after more than 50 writers and moderators withdrew from the event.

Spoke to the ABC for this story on Bendigo writers festival & code of conduct overreach. Festivals should not be policing authors’ speech. @asauthors.bsky.social

Yeah. Reading through that, it wasn’t clear why the city should pay.

If someone else had this happen, but had a low deductible, would the city be obliged just to give them $1000 anyway? It wouldn’t be fair to be rewarded for paying low monthlys.

As I've been saying for well over a decade:

I am willing to debate whether or not LeBreton is the best location for a new arena BUT I firmly disagree that a new arena is the best option for LeBreton.

I have spent a lot of time asking friends with more expertise why the fuck Israel keeps so blatantly going “yup we’re doing war crimes look look at the war crimes here we have video footage of our war crimes!!!” (while also being super mad when accused of war crimes) The answers I have received:

The problem isn't that transphobic parents are being ignored, it's that they're *lying about basic facts.* This is the dynamic on nearly every issue of public interest, from guns to climate change to economics.

"The bigots are lying again" is a fucking great message for democrats and it's true.

It was only an “e-bike crash” in the sense that the driver of a Landrover Discovery got upset by the e-bike lights (because he was dealing drugs in his car), chased them ONE MILE and then hit them, killing the woman who was on the back and seriously injuring the cyclist.

Come on, BBC.

It's curious the lengths governments go to require private property owners to secure pools from interlopers, compared with the lengths they don't go to protect cyclists and pedestrians on public thoroughfares.

One of the many contradictions of Trumpism is that the whole appeal of Trump is that he is waging TOTAL WAR on every other part of society. But then it's totally unfair if anyone else wants to fight back.
