Canât thank you enough for joining us this season đ

Oh yeah, Iâd buy this âĄď¸
Yesss in our chat we made a similar point that the metrons could have lifted right out of the episode. SNW is plagued with convenient âmemory wipesâ and âthis will be classified foreverâ plot reasons.
Iâm on the other side of this, as I donât think the Gorn changes to canon have been THAT radical (ok, outside of the Batel/Hybrid thing!)
Terrarium works best for Ortegasâ story arc and her own trauma.
But, yes, your overall point largely stands. This is just more of the âprequel problemâ IMO.
Had âthe twistâ come earlier, we could have chewed the scenery dealing with the philosophical quandary of humans being forced to do what they to, to survive.
Craig and I talk about this a bit more too, in our review of âSehlat.â The most interesting stuff isnât explored - the end of the episode introducing some of the most compelling âscience fictionâ parts of Trek were largely ignored and handwaved in favor of action adventure

And to your previous point, a two-parter that expands on some of this might have been truly rewarding in that aspect! The stakes felt high enough (Ortegas doesnât have plot armor)!
We may feel âlet downâ by this season of Strange New Worlds, thereâs been a lot of good stuff packed into this season. âTERRARIUMâ is a great episode that Iâll look to rewatch in the years to come.
Great chat with @ohtheprofanity.com & @thenerdyblogger.bsky.social on our podcast! #startrek
This could very well be the case and I donât necessarily disagree - another thought I had rewatching the episode, Pike is allowing Uhura to chase this process to its natural conclusion, so she understands what it truly takes to rescue a friend/crewmember.
Iâm somewhere in that bucket too. For me itâs how they approach canon - handwaving it as irrelevant and acting as though it doesnât matter (long established lore with Vulcan philosophy for instance), versus âfudging the detailsâ (Spock & TPring) for the sake of expanding the universe.
I wanna toot @thenerdyblogger.bsky.social and @mikeslamer.bsky.social âs horns and say this was a fantastic discussion of this episode, season three of #StrangeNewWorlds, and where the show is going. Thanks for having me on the show!
#StarTrekStrangeNewWorlds "Through the Lens of Time" #TVReview A functional episode with a competent plot that poses compelling questions and gestures towards meaningful ideas, but misplaces its focus, leaving its deeper potential unrealised.

Sorry but Iâm a bourbon chicken guy at the mall food court.
Real ones know what I mean.
Oh crap - thatâs definitely me.
On setup days I like to crank tunes. Today is a Myles Kennedy solo live playlist. He talks about the songs, the creation and inspirations behind them.

If you didnât come into the plane with a bag, you should be seated in priority rows at the front of the plane.
S4E1: Scorpion Part II
I can understand if folks felt let down by this opening episode, itâs very Borg heavy, redefining key characteristics of Trekâs biggest villain. The Chakotay fakeout only works if you handwave through it. Sevenâs introduction is all that matters in this episode.
