Once-Weekly Semaglutide in Adults with Overweight or Obesity | NEJM Obesity is a global health challenge with few pharmacologic options. Whether adults with obesity can achieve weight loss with once-weekly semaglutide at a dose of 2.4 mg as an adjunct to lifestyle ...

This is the study often used to make that claim: www.nejm.org/doi/full/10....

Yet, DEXA (bone density gold standard) is not an accurate measure of body composition. There are no studies that knew the specific (MRI) amount of muscle tissue each person had before & after weight loss. It is ASSUMED.

Many of us wish we were a little leaner, but like, skinny fat used to mean something specific (average presenting weight with a higher than healthy ratio of body fat to lean mass) and now it’s being used to mean literally anyone with an ounce of body fat or who isn’t fitness model level jacked

Poor diet/exercise can cause muscle tissue loss but lost muscle tissue does not magically turn into any kind of fat/skinny fat, or vice versa. Not how human tissue works.

If your experiencing skinny fat, you have since birth. Poor diet causes muscle loss making any existing skinny fat worse.

Well, technically a "normal" belly is a muscular belly. Review any scientifically approved resource like Britannica www.britannica.com/science/huma... & you will see the attached image w/ all 600+ muscles developed. That is a "normal" standard human body according to mainstream science/medicine.

Same thing. White fat "becomes" yellow fat when unprocessed (metabolized) yellow carotene from vegetables and grains migrates to and settles in white fat cells, tinting them yellow.

If you really are experiencing skinny fat, it is genetic and exists where genetic default muscle tissue should be, but is not.
How do you know you are experiencing skinny fat, by what scientific measure?

Skinny fat is genetic and exists where genetic default muscle tissue should be, but is not.
Adding muscle mass is the best way to reduce it, but it is not permanent.
Most people have no idea what skinny fat is...the latest science is at the link in bio.
Happy to answer any questions.

See this person's lower back & love handles-no visceral/belly fat, no excess body fat (white/yellow fat) at safe BMI 22.7 & no low muscle (all supposed signs of skinny fat). Yet obvious “weird fat”.
No process exists in the body that would cause muscle to turn into fat
That "weird fat" is skinny fat

See how genetically blessed Christian Bale lost a lot of weight including obvious muscle tissue, yet clear muscle definition including 6-pack abs, while emaciated, & no skinny fat. Genetics.

Lost muscle tissue does not turn into fat tissue. At BMI 22.7 both these men's love handles and lower back should look identical, they do not.

What good is evidence when no one cares?
For instance, skinny fat is a young science. Yet, ask anyone what it is & they will tell you emphatically it's due to poor diet & lifestyle & is visceral/belly fat, excess body fat, & low muscle. Genetics is an excuse.
Show them contrary evidence. Crickets.

According to Google, medical professionals, et al - skinny fat is defined as having visceral/belly fat, too much body fat (white/yellow fat/adipose tissue), & low muscle mass, all of which are caused by poor diet & exercise.
What are your thoughts on this pro trainer's love handles & lower back?
