A contender for “best pub in Bristol” that is definitely not in Bristol The Rising Sun at Frampton Cotterell, South Gloucestershire, was named the best pub in Bristol by the local CAMRA branch in 2025. But the thing is... it’s in Frampton Cotterell, South Gloucestershire.

The north-south divide runs through the Old Red Lion in Litchborough, Northants. While I was there yesterday two young men asked the landlady to take the sparkler off the Bass, which means - brace yourselves - this pub serves Bass three ways! Can anywhere else say the same? 🤔

We got hailed on too.

We needed a walk and there's a bus straight back.

A very pleasant 3+ hour cross country walk to “Bristol’s best pub” for 2025 which is very much not in Bristol.
