Update: It went well. Senior VP of Aerospace e-mailed "great job" afterwards. π

This morning I'm presenting the results of an analysis I have been working on for two years. The audience includes the client's Program Manager and the Senior VP of Aerospace at the prime contractor. The initial presentations within the team have been very well received. Wish me luck! π°οΈπ‘βοΈ
It's a misunderstanding that the haka is a war dance. It serves many different ceremonial purposes, most of which are peaceful:

I did not know that the JemβHadar Vanguard advanced level quick start character came with a dedicated character slot. I'l clam mine tomorrow. Thanks for sharing!
Pictures from a short after-work hike. I was hoping to see herons at the rookery, but if they were there this year, they are all gone now.
Captain's quarters on the crew deck and then the engineering deck, which has engineering, a science lab, and an operations room with a transporter pad.
This has got me intrigued. I'm going to have to try different interiors now.
@selenia.bsky.social Apparently I have a Miranda interior on my main, who pilots a Fleet Gagarin Miracle Worker. This is the crew deck, which includes a lounge, sickbay, and captain's quarters. Apparently you can still set up one floor trophy and four shelves along a wall in the lounge.
This is brilliant. ππ
I'm taking more time to explore with the replay with this new character. I'm finding all sorts of interesting nooks and crannies.

Another of my favorite scenes in Star Trek Online. It's not often you get to get close and personal with a landed starship.

Agreed! I have an Eaglemoss model of one.
Yes, absolutely. I poured 11 years of my life into that program. That work lives on in my former students, but I would of course want to see the program live on. It was also exciting to have an office right on an airport. Here are some pics of the campus, a simulator, and one of our aircraft. π©οΈπ

Greed and selfishness stand in the way. And not to be a downer, but even if carbon emissions were cut significantly now, it may be too late. These are long-duration processes that take decades to reverse. But, we should of course, still do it.
There are essentially no drawbacks to reducing fossil fuel dependency. Even if you believe anthropogenic climate change is not real, it still saves lives by improving air quality, reduces toxins in the environment, makes cities quieter, and reduces the political power of oil-exporting dictatorships.
"4-year" here means they only offer undergraduate degrees, and therefore generally have very little funded research activity. These colleges are very dependent on tuition fees. As I am sure you are aware, it is a whole different system than that used in most other countries.
Yes. This is not at all uncommon in the United States, unfortunately. Small, 4-year privately owned colleges are especially vulnerable financially. About 15 to 30 close every year:

I miss teaching. My favorites were Airport and Airspace Capacity Management, a course I developed and which relied heavily on fast-time airport and airspace simulation, and Economics of Air Transportation, an MBA course. Unfortunately, the American college I taught at no longer exists.
