so you don't have to bend your knees in that same position- hell most of the time I'm just regular knelt with my forelegs flat to the floor. Can even use them standing up as long as you play space down to sell the illusion
so as you mentioned it does use the IK's current estimated position for your knees and elbows- and if you're familiar with your hand positions you'll know that can affect your elbows quite a bit. For the most part it just works! I found if you hold your arms like RL binders it will match
