Unlocking Secrets of Human Development: How Early Nerve Cell Choices Shape the Peripheral Nervous System By examining genetic clues that linger in adult cells, scientists have now gained surprising insights into the developmental origins of the nerves outside the brain and spine.

Developmental organization of sensory and sympathetic ganglia - Nature Findings suggest that neural crest fate bias predominantly emerges within the neural tube, and that only a minor subset of delaminated progenitors retain multipotency to generate both sensory and sympathetic derivatives.

Developmental organization of sensory and sympathetic ganglia

In a study published today in Nature (rdcu.be/fbf5Q), we described the developmental organization of sensory and sympathetic ganglia in multiple organisms. Huge thanks to the great contribution from @gleesonlab.bsky.social , Keng Ioi (Harry) Vong, @melaniedwhite.bsky.social, and all collaborators!

Perhaps the most puzzling part:
We see a paradox: the rsRNA length shift is progressive⏳yet the global RNA profile shows an "Aging Cliff"📉.
Cliff or Progression? Maybe the gradual shift is the forerunner—accumulating silently until it triggers the cliff.

Highlights

• H3K4me1 ChIP-STARR-seq enabled the quantification of cell type-specific enhancer activities with high-resolution.
• Cross-transfection of the ChIP-STARR-seq libraries into two cell lines revealed the enhancers cis and trans activity maps.
