Years later, Welsh sought to recruit talented players for Celtic FC with Brother Walfrid. He approached Maley’s sons, Tom and Willie, to join the club.
In 1867, Irish rebel Pat Welsh fled to Glasgow after British soldier Thomas Maley, an Irishman himself, showed him mercy in Dublin. Welsh built a new life, becoming a respected tailor and community figure.
