Palantir touts its human rights policy. But its tools help ICE run dragnet raids, detain people with no criminal record, and retaliate against protesters. Legal boilerplate is not human rights due diligence. www.eff.org/deeplinks/2...

wonder how much it'd cost to get this printed on a sheet cake and delivered to cupertino
A clip from The New York Times reads: "But only the entities that officially paid the tariffs are eligible to recover that money. That means that the fuller universe of people affected by Mr. Trump’s policies — including millions of Americans who paid higher prices for the products they bought — are not able to apply for direct relief. The extent to which consumers realize any gain hinges on whether businesses share the proceeds, something that few have publicly committed to do. Some have started to band together in class-action lawsuits in the hopes of receiving a payout."
The average American family paid $1,700 in tariffs last year, according to the bipartisan Congressional Joint Economic Committee. Few will ever see any of that money back. The refunds will go to companies, if doled out at all. What a joke.
Gil Duran tweet: TLDR: Fascism in response to Palantir's long fascists screed on X.
"Your Account is Suspended" Message on X
The CEO of Palantir posted a fascist manifesto on X.
I pointed out that it was fascist—which resulted in a permanent suspension from X (my second time!).
So, when you hear the tweeters complaining that BlueSky is intolerant, remember why many of us came here in the first place.

It’s a broad-daylight heist, and they’re not even bothering to wear masks.
i think folks might be unfamiliar with "the pharisees", so let's make it clear: he's saying the jews run the press, and that they are conspiring to undermine the military. it's not just antisemitism, it's indistinguishable from nazism.
Many of us who signed the letter have agreed to let it speak for itself and decline interviews, at least for now, because we want the focus to stay where it truly belongs: on the brave survivors who have come forward and on the predator who preyed upon them. (2/2)
The April 12 letter from former staffers was all of us speaking with a single voice. If he didn’t think we’d all support our colleague and friend, I guess he knew just as little about who we really are as we knew about who he really is. (1/2)
My colleague from long ago just sent me this photo of a clipping he found from 1993, back in the heyday of local news. (Not really, but we had a lot of fun at the Express-Times of Easton, PA.) News you can use!

I'm not a Christian, but if you don't think this is sacrilegious, neither are you.
Hi, Felix. Hope you've been well. Rumors swirl around many politicians; I never saw any evidence to support rumors against Swalwell until the Chronicle story dropped Friday. Now I and many of my colleagues must grapple with how we didn’t pick up on it at the time.
"We are appalled by his actions and stand firmly with you and every victim who has come forward. Justice is not optional. Accountability is not negotiable. We will not be silent."
"To our colleague: you are not alone. We see you. We stand with you. We are deeply sorry that we did not know what you were enduring, and we carry the weight of that with us. Your bravery in speaking out has given voice to what many victims have feared to say, and we are grateful for your courage."
From the letter: "We further call on Congressman Swalwell to immediately withdraw from the California gubernatorial race and to resign his seat in the United States Congress." 🧵

I’ll have more to say later, but for now: I’m heartbroken. I know her, I respect her, and I believe her. You should too.

the 25th amendment is a ludicrous nonstarter and they're right to say so.
the refusal to pursue impeachment because it distracts from "costs and corruption" is such consultant brained loser bullshit. jfc.
Your representative needs to hear from you right now, before the April 20 deadline. Contact them today.
Tell them: No vote on any bills that would reauthorize Section 702 without meaningful reform.
preservation over principle often is the path of least resistance
How in god’s name does an impeachment vote “distract” from the “focus” on Trump’s corruption?!
Some ambitious Dem should just go over his head. Dare him to whip the caucus AGAINST impeaching Trump under the current circumstances. www.offmessage.net/p/republican...
Wow, great news: the CDC has a study proving COVID vaccines slashed hospitalizations by 55%. Bad news: RFK Jr.’s team killed it before publication because facts were inconvenient. They are literally hiding data that could save your life.

Hakeem Jeffries can force an impeachment vote same day. If he refuses, any House Democrat can force the same vote, just a few days later. That's the only way to force an immediate debate on whether the danger Trump put us all in is tolerable. www.offmessage.net/p/republican...
"There is just plain, old-fashioned authoritarianism happening right now,” EFF’s Cindy Cohn told The Tech. “I think it is a mistake to think that this current moment was only created by tech, because then you don’t think hard about how to get out of it.” thetech.com/2026/04/09/...
