It is my intention to pick up some Chinese. This is appalling to my offspring who are fluent and like to use it as their secret language.

Not watching the big game. This is not new for my family. It's just never been a thing for us. When my oldest was five. I caught him explaining to a young friend of his: "We're Quaker. We don't celebrate the Superbowl." He assumed it was some kind of religious holiday the way people talked about it.

In college I was once so tired that I couldn't think of the word "tired." When someone asked how I was doing I said that I was "crowded." It became the new term for being tired AF.

How am I doing? I am perpetually crowded.

Today I deleted old alarms from my phone that dated back to 2019. Instead of creating new alarms and labeling them appropriately, I just used old ones hoping I'd remember what they were for.

Wake me up when I'm no longer coughing up a lung. Scratch that. When I am no longer coughing up a lung I will finally be able to sleep. Common cold knocking me on my ass.

Two years ago in January school closed due to excessive snow. Today we stayed home due to excessive cold. It was so much prettier back then. Today it's just dead grass, bare trees, and -38C wind chill.

Turned out well. It was a very small group of polite and attentive rookie officers with good questions.

Speaking to a group of police officers tomorrow about living with mental illness. I'm a guest speaker with #NAMI (the National Alliance on Mental Illness). Haven't done a live presentation since pre-lockdown. It hasn't worked in my schedule. I'm NERVOUS.
