Video games as a medium use both modernist and postmodernist narrative devices simultaneously which is both a unique element of the art form and the natural progression of contemporary storytelling convention

Iβm not a big fan of Katseyeβs newest single but my fav part is how after Yoonchae sings βI know nothing just like Socratesβ they gotta put the full quote in there as if Hybe wasnβt sure weβd paid enough attention in high school humanities classes to get the reference

"Working on it" is all we can ask for as humans! π
*minimizes my tabs of research for the academic article I'm writing because I'm technically doing that work off the clock as an extracurricular* haha yeah....................
Not me with a comedically-sized hammer poised to bonk people who have negative self-talk around their writing practice
Writing is work and it's okay that work feels hard sometimes! Some pieces will come easier than others. Sometimes you've having an off day. And everyone's green when they're still learning!
But don't worry, OK? You've got this. πͺ
7. Cultivate positive self-talk around writing. Writers are REALLY bad about this (I know because I am one). This is HUGE. Have a good relationship with yourself and your work!
"I'm so bad at first drafts." -> "I struggle with first drafts because they're intimidating. But I can do hard things."
6. Time. I know, I know. The worst one. But it's time. And it's an important aspect of gaining confidence. The more you put down a shoddy first draft that you transform into something you love through editing, the more you gain confidence that even if the first draft WAS rough... that's ok!
5. Figure out your practice - are you a "Mozart" or a "Beethoven" ? The more you 'know thyself' in terms of writing, the better you can be at giving yourself a little grace. Everyone's process is different!
Check out this thread for related advice about process:

4. Everyone hates the blank page with blinking cursor. The first line is almost always the hardest, so if you feel intimidated to start there, you can always start somewhere you DO feel you can easily begin and add an intro later. You don't have to write your piece in chronological order!
3. Build in lots of editing time before your deadline. I know I hate feeling rushed. Give yourself lots of time to fiddle with things and get them just how you like it. Knowing this time is built in can help with the anxiety about getting the first draft on paper. You've got lots of time!
2. Internalize that the first draft is supposed to be rough. That's it's a "rough draft"! No one will see this draft but you (and maybe your editor). Not everyone will write a super pristine first draft, (see #5 and the attached thread), and you know what? That doesn't make you a bad writer!
Writing advice thread re: first drafts!
1. From my writing pedagogy teacher in college: hot water can't flow if the faucet isn't on. Might take a minute for things to get to the temp you want, but that's okay!
A career-long bit to see if an academic institution will give me an honorary advanced degree in media psychology
