I’ve seen this exact one on digikey and it doesn’t work for me either. The widget itself might be problematic.

Me, standing behind my table of wares at a recent craft show. I'm standing, facing the camera, hands folded in front of me, wearing a dark gray button-down shirt. My name badge is hanging at mid-chest from a chain of beads that look like planets. In the foreground, trays of colorful bracelets. To my right, stands with necklaces. Behind me, a sign with photos of planets says "Emily's Space Craft."

In somewhat terrifying but hopefully positive personal news, I've decided to purchase an extremely expensive 10x10 booth in the exhibit hall at the American Geophysical Union meeting in December. I'll be selling my gemstone and wire jewelry and art. I hope you'll come find me there.

Thanks for sharing this. I’d occasionally wondered how he was doing. Sad, of course, but he had a full life. I’m glad he was still around and engaged when I was a student.

Vale Bill Compston William Compston FAA FTSE FRS, was born in Western Australia in 1931. As a child he lived with his parents at his father’s butcher’s shop in Perth. After his father died in 1943 the shop was sold and ...

Some sad news this week for those in the isotope ion microprobe business ⚒️🧪. The Father of the SHRIMP (and my PhD Supervisor), Bill Compston passed away at 94 years.

My scientific career would have been very different without him. Vale.

I've seen this before, where I was asking something like Gemini or Chat-GPT to provide a list of common organic molecules with a particular mass - it's hard to find a list but easy to check the mass of any particular molecule. The lead answer was off by 10x but the rest were fine.

Not every lab got exactly the same date, but they were very close. Scatter is about 0.05% (500 ppm), which is close to the uncertainty of individual dates (mostly 0.05-0.08%), which makes it hard to identify any particular source of bias.

A figure that compares a series of radiometric dates from different labs. Each date is a thin vertical bar, the length of which is related to the uncertainty in the date. There are a few dozen dates, from 14 different labs. They are all broadly consistent with each other but show small amounts of lab-to-lab scatter.

The twist here is that Dawid dissolved and spiked a large batch of solution, which then was split and sent to different labs. This largely removes "geological" effects like heterogeneity, to assess where the community stands. Arguably pretty good!
