Of everything we have to celebrate from 2025, we're most proud of our sales rate of Canadian contributors. In 2025, almost 23% of our sales had a Canadian author or illustrator, compared to just 13.7% across the industry. Indies always outperform the chains and web giants in this category.

In 2025, our fiction/non-fiction mix remained consistent, and the top genres are subject were similar to 2024. Of note, fantasy overtook crime fiction as our best selling fiction genre. Not pictured is general fiction, including literary, which far exceeds any genres.
Happy New Year! 🥳
As we enter 2026, let's look back on the year that was with our fourth annual Wrapped: 2025 Edition.
I'm only two books into the year, but already a 5/5! Thanks to Nat for this gift, and thanks to @thespanielstale.bsky.social for featuring it in their newsletter so she'd see it! Intelligently written with verve all day, unapologetically feminist: pop rocks for your neurons. Borrow or buy it soon!
A couple of weeks before Christmas, I had the opportunity to chat about @thespanielstale.bsky.social book subscriptions on the Let's Talk Bookselling podcast, by RISE and the European and International Booksellers Federation. open.spotify.com/show/4AOAfkC...

We’re looking forward to being members of this community for many more years to come!
Thank you for three wonderful years, neighbours. 5/5
And of course, above all else, we’ve always strived to be a good neighbour by treating our booksellers fairly, sponsoring and donating to dozens of local organizations and causes, and showing up to events in our community. 4/5
We’ve also hosted dozens of events in a variety of formats and on different topics – including the Ottawa Indie Bookstore Crawl and our always popular Where’s Waldo in Wellington West – and we hope that they’ve helped our community come together. 3/5
Over the last three years, we’ve offered lots of thought-provoking reads – over 94,000 so far! – and we hope what you’ve read has inspired you to keep learning. 2/5
It’s our third birthday! 🎉
Since we opened, our mission has always been to be a good neighbour, offer thought-provoking reads, inspire lifelong learning, and bring our community even closer together. We like to think we’ve made some good progress. 1/5
A celebration of birding, making new friends, and the power of self-love make these picture books excellent choices for summer reading and all year round.
I consume a mix of books, ebooks and audiobooks from the library — but I still buy books for the good karma and to encourage 🫶🏼 independent bookstores 🫶🏼
