Lots of Greenway garden members busy getting their beds ready this morning. Max, Ricky, & Taff cleaning the polytunnel, sorting composts heaps, building stuff and Islam and Sultana brought us all some delicious sweet treats to celebrate Eid. 🙏🏻much appreciated.

Beautiful morning in the Greenway Garden with the Hailesland Early Years group. Bright as wee buttons. We found lots of worms, learned about seeds, what they need to grow, & spotted water snails in the pond. Sowed a small section of broad beans in their bed & plan to sow more crops 😎

Finished off the water harvesting system this morning and Ricky got started on a picnic bench for the Calders Greenshoots garden. We’ll finish that next Saturday. Cleared out bits and pieces from the main shed too.

Lots of tidying & sorting of stuff from Taff, Ricky, Max, & my Wester Hailes High School students sowed a bed of broad beans in the polytunnel this afternoon. Also gave the medicinal plant bed a wee tidy. Maryse has been doing a wonderful job pruning all the currents & fruit trees around the garden.
Love seeing this. Lots of great school farmers at Sighthill Primary School that Shona has done a great job of nurturing at her sessions there. ❤️
I think this sums up our session this morning in the Greenway Garden. Out with the frost hardy crew and joined by some of our perennial crew who prefer the extra warmth and light. Very happy to see Tom back for a visit, even with broken leg. A joyful morning. ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️
Busy making things, apple tree pruning, fruit shrub love, tying in Loganberries, weeding and then hanging out with Wester Hailes High School students, who helped care for the wormery, tried to navigate the garden with their eyes shut using a stick, and tried out some fitness challenges.
Gave the hedge some more love today, tidying up around the Greenway Garden and a new surprise project for the garden from Ricky.

Tanks all connected and filling in. Calders Greenshoots this morning. Should have 8000 litres of harvested rainwater as we move into growing season. Potting bench ready for action too. We’ve got through a lot of tasks this winter thanks to two of our amazing volunteers, Ricky and Taff. 🙌🙌

Busy giving the Greenway Garden hedge a bit of care, building things from pallet wood, watering the polytunnel as the plants sense the extra daylight, with new growth evident. Plenty of old nests in evidence around the wildlife hedge which is great to see. 😁
Lots of wee bits completed today with the crew in Calders Greenshoots Garden. Guttering sorted👌sink siliconed in, beds getting fixed, water tanks will be finished on Saturday, and we added some decent door handles to both sheds. Finally a sunny session ☀️☀️☀️☀️
