If they are 1099 recipients, withholdings are still being withheld by those companies. They make them contractors to avoid paying for insurance, etc. Some of that is illegal,BTW.

One problem in the US is people spread partial information to get a reaction. Then when facts are given, they close their minds and refuse to learn or look at the info from multiple perspectives. I have worked with corporate clients and seen exactly how much they pay.
