Happy Women in Science day!
Particularly during times like these, we should strive to support girls (and other women) in their pursuit of STEM careers. Women physicians and scientists change the world for the better. Thanks to my dad and grandfather, the 2 OG Drs. Ferrero, for inspiring me to be #3.
Loved this video, and was fortunate to catch the link for Reach Out & Read over on X so I’m hoping you cross post it over here, Dan!
If you have grants going to study section right now, or are serving on a study section, check the status of your meeting and subma if you haven’t heard back from your PO or section head, respectively. My thoughts are with all my colleagues active in a grant cycle right now.

Tell me your children help with cookie baking, without actually telling me they “help.” 🎄❤️
Happy 84th birthday to Anthony Fauci
Absolutely loved Murakami in high school; we were introduced to him in AP English and I devoured all his books over the next couple of years. Memories (and what a lovely husband). Merry Christmas to all of you! 🌲
Happy to see you on this space as well! Hoping it’ll be a much more positive and intelligent platform.
And if there’s anything you want to ask me about or discuss, I’m always open for mature, intellectual and respectful discussions! I hope this new space will be one of growth, celebrating each other’s successes and bolstering one another through tough times. Life is too short to be anything but kind.
Trans rights matter and I will die on this hill. I also am against assault weapons and support initiatives by Sandy Hook and other school shooting victims’ families to pass anti-weapons legislation. I support Ukraine. I believe in democracy. I love furbabies and things floofy. I choose the bear.
Human rights are important to me. So is equity in medicine, both for patients of color/LGBTQ patients, as well as mentoring students from disadvantaged backgrounds. I’m a supporter of #whitecoatsforblacklives. I believe no humans are illegal, and everyone deserves safety and access to health care.
Hello new friends! I suppose it’s a good time to introduce myself for those I didn’t know back on the bird themed app. I’m Kim. Molecular cardiology w/ an emphasis on dysregulated signaling in heart failure is my specialty. I have a number of interests that I talk about outside of 🫀: 1/🧵
Those are pretty darn cute
My goodness, do you have a recipe you could share for that beautiful pavé? This looks amazing.
A lot of folks are giving up in advance. Capitulating before a single skirmish.
Well, not this old warrior. I’ve seen much worse from the U.S. government in my day. I’m concerned for our country, but not a bit scared of these miscreants. I’m ready to do my part.
Who’s with me?
Hi Tristan! Followed you for a long time on the Other Place before it got toxic. Glad to see you here and still posting wisdom and wit!
So glad to see you here dropping the wisdom and wit without the toxicity of the Other Place! 🎉
So rewarding to observe the effects of teaching on bright young minds — namely, a sense of confidence in your students that they can be independent at the bench.
More or less keeping it together with coffee and Zoloft here. Sending you support and hugs. You aren’t alone, even if this is awful to go through.
Hello friends! If any of the journals, labs/PIs and scientists we followed back on Twitter/X are here (both cardiology and general science), please do drop a comment and let me know so that I can follow!
