When the temperature is above ~5°C, the heat pump basically just trundles along at between 1kW-2kW, so that's comfortably covered by the sun, and the battery can tide us over for the 3hr peak evening period when we do get charged more by Octopus
It's roughly ~5kW (although we're in practice limited to 4kW because of our inverter). We're in Sussex (so probably not *massively* more sunny than you, but we were fortunate enough to have a large-ish SE facing roof
Heat pump will be the gamechanger. Ours does all our hot water and central heating, and we are basically “even” for April so far. (Although we do also have a 10kwh battery to smooth out demand )
If you acknowledge that we should be transitioning to EVs, and you also acknowledge that excess weight is bad, then reducing pointless bloat in the form of needlessly large SUV car shapes is a complete no-brainer
A Land Rover Defender is ~500kg heavier than, say, a Hyundai Ioniq. We can still say SUVs suck, because extra weight from grotesque bloat is bad irrespective of how much batteries weigh
Arguably more immigration does, unless you are lucky enough to not need social care in old age
Good explanatory thread here, if you haven’t already seen it bsky.app/profile/chri...
Sorry (genuinely), am I wrong to read your comment as an implication that rise of populism shouldn't be blamed on anything other than people voting for populism?
A factor =/= the sole cause
Oh, you mean, apart from the holocaust denial, nazi tropes, and lies, what brilliant points you are making? Congratulations I guess
I’m sure some people are “just asking questions” about the arson attack in ways that don’t cross the outright antisemitism line, but the other stuff she is posting isn’t exactly suggestive that‘s what she is managing to do (to put it mildly)
Well for one thing she’s posting a collage with holocaust denial and Nazi imagery in it (look closely top left and bottom right) bsky.app/profile/liby...
UK wind/gas energy mix today (gas in blue). Boggles the mind how the Tories have now decided this is a bad idea, in the context of a gas price shock
"Not all cyclists are virtuous."
Who said that they are? Michael is simply pointing out that a city with more cycling and less driving is less dangerous for pedestrians. You have invented an argument that isn't being made.
Every single right-wing person in OBAA is weird, creepy, murderous, racist and evil.
The *absolute worst* thing you can say about the left-wing characters (and only some of them) is that they make poor or compromised choices, in difficult situations. That is emphatically not "both sides are bad"
Great post, and very informative, as always.
(One minor error, end of Maine section should read North Carolina, instead of New Carolina?)
And a cycle itself is a mobility aid for many people.
Yes, if there's no accidental discharge by the agent who took the gun, the circumstances are even more incompetent and horrific
Thanks for that, that's really clear. Must be some kind of artefact in the lower quality video.
I'm not convinced either, but the slowed video does seem to show a white mark suddenly appearing on the road surface just before the gunshot sound ( in front of the black cloth object?) bsky.app/profile/pota...
There's a suggestion here that the sound of the first shot corresponds with the agent (accidentally?) firing the victim's gun into the ground. Note white mark appearing on road surface just before gunshot sound bsky.app/profile/pota...
Seeing some suggestions that the very first shot heard is the accidental discharge of the victim's gun by this agent in grey - do you think this would be possible to verify? bsky.app/profile/pota...
