Men utformning...

It looks like Siemens will be responsible for the locomotives, they will at least have 10 Vectrons to pull the old cars a couple of years before the Talgo sets are ready to be used.

The worst part is that we went from designing road like this in the 1960 to much better designs in the late 70s and 80s. But than from the 1990s it became like this again. Very car orientated neighbourhood, just with separated bicycle lanes, it's the Netherlands after all.

In Rijswijk it's even worse with a very wide median used for parking or greenery, which sounds nice, but nobody uses it since it's in the middle of the road. It was never extended to Schiedam, but there you can clearly see which road would have been part of the route, same width, same intersections

This main road from The Hague to Delft is a complete monster. It was designed in the 1960s as a provincial main road from The Hague to Schiedam linking all the new suburbs in all cities on the route. Making it in a road going from nowhere to nowhere that is way to busy.

European Sleeper is using the older ones.

These sleeper cars were used on the Amsterdam -Zürich Nightjet before they were replaced by ÖBB own Comfortline sleeper cars at the end of last year. European Sleeper really stepped into the void that was left when the Paris NJ stopped, both when it come to the route and available carriages.

The sleeper cars from the ÖBB Nightjet Paris trains replaced the hired cars that were used on the Amsterdam-Zürich NJ. The cars that were used on that train up are now rented out to European Sleeper for this new train.

Why didn't we see any news articles when Eurostar ordered trains that cannot be used on the UK conventional network? The e320s can't be used on diversion routes when HS1 is closed.

Alstom has of course a big presence in Italy, they already maintain Italo's trains at their facilities. Although it's never confirmed in any article it's very likely that SNCF will also use these facilities for the TGV-M maintenance.

In this case Allrail is correct that its Private investment that made this possible. But I dont think they meant Stadler who actually made the investments in these trains. Which was very opportunistic, don't waste available slots, instead shop them to another customer, which happened to be private.

What's under the stickers doesn't really matter, it mainly shows that Stadler was not able to find other customers than the SBB via the regular routes. Everything in their supply chain was geared towards the SBB version, they didn't need to bother to make it look neutral.

Could be, but they've been very quiet about their plans for the Benelux for some time now.

That's not it, the CEO also said they would run in 7 countries other than Italy, without specifying which that would be. There are 5 obvious ones, ES, FR, UK, AT and DE. So even more room for speculation from just one speech about a new logo.

If the 2B€ is only for a new follow up order, the total amount would make sense.

But yes, there's only the 2B€ for 74 new trains in 2030 quote from the CEO at the presentation of the new logo that is repeated by everybody.

That's why the SNCF didn't extend the live of the TGV PSE, it was not a real high speed train...

But seriously, but it was a pun since Jon always says about the SNCF that If it's not going 300 km/h they are not interested.

But but but, the ICE 1 doesn't go 300 km/h, so it's not a real High Speed Train.... 🫣

This is the opening paragraph of the article. It also list the BLS Vectrons as being in the SBB Cargo document.

One thing that is obvious is that passenger trains hauled by a Vectron are very rare in Zwitserland.

To be fair, the article does reads like it was a bit unclear who was responsible for this restriction. It was SBBC who published the restriction in their operating instructions. SBB Press didn't know the reason. The BAV didn't know anything about it.

It might have changed since, but it was explained in this article in the SER from 2023 04 Schweiz: keine erhöhten Kurvengeschwindigkeiten für Vectron. The BAV Type approval: no speed restriction. SBB infra: classified as type A, same as Ae 6/6, speed limit = 120. (so no 100, but still)

April ist wahrscheinlich zu optimistisch, die letzten Nachrichten sprachen vom Sommer 2026.

2 months ago 1 1 1 0

True, and when approval comes it could only be for freight trains, similar to how it's, as far as I know only approved for 100km/h (or even less) in Switzerland.

True, but at least we can't say that Siemens is not doing anything right now to get the Vectron approved. The timing now also fits with the delivery schedule of the 1st Vectrons with a France package early next year.

They might be in Paris right now. They have been spoted at the SNCF Agence d'Essai Ferroviaire facility in Vitry sur Seine. Although that was about a month ago.
