Head over to Stuart Ng Books in Torrance, CA until the end of March 2026 to save 20 percent on this recently published HHA Press hardcover edited by JB Kaufman and yours truly!
Aw, shucks. I’ve learned plenty more from you, that’s for sure! :)
That structure was built on location up there next to that real lake. The Archives had the construction orders but the more interesting part pertained to the teardown. Because filming had wrapped, there was no catering so the work order stressed that the teardown crew had to bring their own lunches!
This March 1965 Herblock cartoon about police violence against civil rights activists has added relevance today.
It was there for sure in 2013; Stacia Martin and some of us went to look at it when she was preparing for a presentation on the film’s 50th anniversary.
Make sure Stacia Martin see this - she has used the other one in presentations since it shows the inner record sleeve being printed.
Instagram, Threads, and Facebook at the moment.
You guys inspired a whole day’s worth of posts over at the HHA Press!
Is the blond guy at the far right Dan Smith?
We also see a lot of the photos from 1978 when Disney execs previewed EPCOT for him in Florida, so it was fitting that he came back to see it for himself in 1983.
A newspaper interview with Mary Costa nearly 30 years ago led to a lifetime of meaningful friendship. So thankful for a holiday visit that found this Disney Legend as lovely and gracious as ever. She enjoyed reminiscing about CBS Christmas promo photos from 1956! #sleepingbeauty #disneylegend
Thanks, Tom. Hope we can figure it out ahead of projects in the works for the 75th anniversary!
Your knowledge in this area is top notch! I still remember the training videos you shared.
Great sleuthing - a very good possibility!
Proud to have co-edited this one!
Does anyone know the artist for this original painting used for Disneyland’s 1979 Very Merry Christmas Parade? It’s been rescued but there’s no artist credited. @jason.parkendium.com @tomkmorris.bsky.social
Good luck - you can do it!
That’s amazing, though! I know someone interested so I’ll pass on your experience. Great job and well done!
Congratulations! I was just talking about this program today with the Library Director at the college where I work. How long did it take and would you recommend it to others?

Good Orange Bird photo op during Destination D a few years back.
“Full name! Speak up!” So many VHS plays back in the day!
I have Fulton Burley’s script and some related documents from this one.
If I remember correctly, Floyd Norman worked on that one but he may have been assisting someone at the time - Milt Kahl, perhaps?
A favorite animation cel from Disney’s “The Sword in the Stone.” #disney
Walt Disney’s advice to Donald Duck still holds true: “Be yourself.” #disney
The positive vibes found on this site are refreshing and encouraging. I’m looking forward to sharing and interacting more here.
I was hoping to learn the reasons behind his departure if they related to the film but it seems more likely that it was connected to Disneyland.
There’s correspondence with people back in Atlanta where he tells them that the film was on hold in lieu of “20,000 Leagues.” When they started back up in the summer of 1955, he appeared to be working full time on Disneyland.
