Francis Poulenc: Sonata for Flute and Piano Happy New Year! I’ll be taking a break from writing new posts this month, but never fear, there will still be a Daily Classical Music Post! This January, I’ll be sharing some DCMPs from Januarys in the past. And stay tuned for a whole new theme in February! First posted January 2014 Who knew that Francis Poulenc (1899–30 January 1963), Jean-Pierre Rampal (1922–20 May 2000), Butterfly McQueen (1911–22 December 1995), and Charles Addams (1912–29 September 1988) all shared the same birthday, 7 January?

It's not a panegyric quite yet, but Trump is being lauded as Victor in NRC today: "Agreement with Columbia University is a victory for Trump". Unfortunately a correct observation of the sorry state of the US.

I mean - if Dutch NRC claims that Trump is victorious: "EU yields to Trump and accepts high tariffs" you know the mood is somber in Brussels.

3) The precedence Japan and the EU shape, will almost force Canada, Mexico and others in similar 'deals' now. Eventually the US economy will benefit the most and Trump achieved his goal: nobody can ignore US economy for the foreseeable future. So far 'protecting' free trade, it's rather the opposits

2) The only reasoning behind accepting the 15% on EU products only and many opt-outs for the US might be that the EU wants to be the adult in the room and 'protects' free trade against madman et all. Problem remains: the (higher) tariffs might be around for more than 4 years....

1) The EU-US 'trade deal' shows the lack of a proper corps diplomatique in Brussels mainly due to German/NL/Scandi influence. This is a loss for the EU and a win for the US. No risk was taken and the largest economic power was defeated by fear of a trade war not the war itself.

The only thing what matters right now is how Trump 'feels' the template deal.

He will agree with a Japan style deal (including 15% on cars/parts) if it will make him look stronger (Epstein saga in mind)

Trump is erratic so the EU might strike a relatively good deal because of Epstein. Sick world
