My latest (short) article is a shout out to those heroes within the education system that just refuse to give up.

My latest article.

They call it a "road to permanence" for a reason—and sometimes, that road feels incredibly long.
I’ve shared a personal reflection on the hurdles, the waiting, and the determination it takes to reach permanence in my latest Substack post:

Away from home, yet still connected.
Birth kids didn't sign the contract, but they’re doing the work of fostering every single day. This one is for the birth children living in the shadow of the system.

I have written a response to Sarah Anderson's article on #FosterWiki and you can find it here:

I truly believe this is the time to strike. Can we all collaborate to make 2026 the year of The Foster Carer?
The carers are ready. The system is failing. The only thing standing in the way of an unstoppable alliance is "branding."
Put the mission first. Put the carers first.
Fosterwiki & @FosterSupport — The door is open. Shall we make history?
Working apart, you are two streams hit by a drought. Together, you are a river that can carve through the hardest stone of systemic bias. 🌊
A unified, independent front would be the ONLY voice the DfE couldn't ignore or buy off. #StandWithCarers #IndependentVoices
(FosterWiki)and @FosterSupport are the only two major players left who are solely member-funded. No LA contracts. No government "hush money."
But while they work in separate lanes, the system stays winning. It’s time to bridge the gap!
Subsidised Advocacy - If an organisation’s budget comes from Local Authorities, can they ever truly stand up to them?
It’s like a ref being paid by the home team.
Carers don’t need "polite" representation. They need un-bought, fierce independence. @fostersupport.co.uk (& Fosterwiki)
The UK fostering system is in a tailspin, and the "solutions" being offered are more of the same. 10,000 new places? Great. But who is protecting the carers already in the system? Certainly not the organisations taking money from the LAs they should be challenging.
Am I alone in thinking this?
Finally. Back up and running.. @nwfg.bsky.social
Oh Miriam, the dream of being strapped in beside you at 30,000 feet lives on. Sadly, my bank account flies strictly economy, so unless I win the lottery or you start doing budget-airline cameos, our business class bonding session will have to stay in the realm of in-flight fantasy!
After sharing my reflections on 2025 and laying everything out openly, I came across a post from last January where I wrote about wanting to be the kind of person the kids remember with a smile. That hope still guides me, and I’m doing my best to live up to it!

I wrote about menopause — something I once thought I had no right to talk about, but now realise men absolutely need to understand if we want to support the women we love.

Thank you
Here's the big government announcement on how they plan to waste money tempting more people into a broken system.
First bit of #hamradio since the madness of Christmas started. I hope you are all doing well.
The #Baofeng UV-32 feels solid in the hand. Excellent quality.
Kids have enjoyed a bit of sunshine, Lego in the garden and a homemade sweet potato curry! #delicious. I'm now sat scanning some #hamradio repeaters for an opportunity to chat
