Another jaunt into Bloomburrow for Secrets of Strixhaven Mystical Archive! I absolutely love Bloomburrow as a setting, and I'm very glad that I got to revisit it for a couple of these.

if you think like that, the social media machine has beaten you. someone's shitty cartoon drawing of a character they like is still infinitely more valuable than your stupid complaint about how artless it all seems to be to you.
to not find that impressive, miraculous, and beautiful, even the "dumb", indulgent, and amateur stuff with very little to say beyond "i like this and it makes me happy" is a perspective that loses sight of the humanity behind the facade of social media. idc if this sounds pretentious.
"all of this [amateur internet cartoonist stuff] just isn't on that level" to be an incessantly annoying and incurious perspective that completely loses the depth behind both individual and collective efforts in people sharing small pieces of personal expression by the thousands daily.
deeply personal pieces speaking to some cultural moment, things that are more interestingly introspective, beautifully capturing a moment, having something very meaningful to say, something intelligently prescient etc. etc. but I think I find people who smugly argue that-
y'know, on a base principle I kind of understand the core argument that makes a distinction between higher/elevated/"serious" art over common cartoon illustration on social media that me and my peers make, I def feel it for sure, there's different levels of sincerity in things like-

an image from tabletop simulator on a magic the gathering table. a life counter displays a gif featuring a scarab beetle flying across the room with the caption "whatever. go my scarab". above it, I have drawn the rabbit from the iconic image "she isn't very fond of the scarab"

surprisingly, 2027 actually puts this game as the first time there's ever been a 5 year gap between mainline games (scarlet and violet released in 2022..) although legends Z-A is sort of a spiritual return to gen 6 so it feels more recent

fan culture is fine. people still write fics and make fanart and make AUs respectfully of what they wished to see. the whole realm of shared/gift culture within fandom is alive and well. don't act like entitled annoying loreheads haven't always been the burnt crust of fan culture since forever
i think the thing that bugs me is when people just sort of state some random conjecture about how "young fans" are these day or just talk about people's brains being cooked on these platforms, or "media literacy" (incorrectly) etc. etc. like man. you're old, but grow up.
and then going the whole "this is why we can't have nice things" route but with a sort of freshman academic tone to it. i dunno, it's worth discussing, but there's also a sort of contrived fixation on the issue w/ a need to chime in. i guess i'm doin' that too but still!
I'm glad that people are using it to make an example out of the worse parts of fan culture (entitlement and anger) wrt gooseworx but I can't help but feel like there's a degree of outrage machine at work when 99% of what I see is people being mad about a behavior and practically none of the behavior

i usually reserve opinion for my vidygame alt but i posted art so i don't feel bad saying i'm legit proud of myself for quitting that game lmao. i still chill with it, i like seeing my friends have fun w/ it but it was sooo "logging in to make ice cubes" for the last 3 months of my time w/ it

didn't wanna finish this, drew this when zhao came out. i quit zzz months prior and could not be assed to reinstall, even for her (it's for the best, one more time sink out of my life) - so i figured i'd express my appreciation productively instead :) have the bnuy.
