another tip i can give is instead of making rounder shapes, i tend to make my craniums more blocky. This really helps me indicated direction as it is easier for me to turn a cube in space than a sphere (or an egg)

These are from the Medsmap portrait course. It's easier to decompose the skull into simple primitives. once you get the formula down, its easier to recreate that same formula in different angles

here are some of my notes:
1. start with cranium; its egg shaped
2. jaw; its the shape of an extruded horseshoe
3. nose: shape of a tapered horseshoe
4. browridge; its the shape of a wedge
5. cheekbones; they are also the shape of a wedge
6. teeth; ther are shaped like half a flying saucer (ufo)

its just a matter of following the ref closely! if you notice: all the shapes and the structure are the same, just elongated
