i do care about the license thing personally, a huge advantage of open weights for the consumer is that you get competition on inference pricing and many providers, both good if you aren't rich enough to have the local compute. now minimax can just fix the price in their commercial use agreements.

TEE where you don't trust the hypervisor is kinda of an unsolved problem afaik? unless by container you just mean storage in which case yeah restic is e2ee. if you want general compute you either trust the host or do math (slow). like i don't think anyone is deploying zkVMs or FHE TEEs any time soon

playing with vlm-generated alt text — the ave zone all it took was $3.359 and 68 pictures

I ended up playing around with having VLMs ("AI") generate alt text, as people kept saying it's a bad idea and will never work. I also had some previous experiences that weren't great, but it felt I could do better.

I believe I succeeded with a tiny bit of added effort :)

i love writing my own agent harnesses and then not using them because programming is more fun when you don't use agents

hm i agree a lot with namespacing/tag relations as a dag but posts in the graph seems like the wrong solution to me? i'd assume public boorus to be read-heavy so expensive writes are fine-ish, problem with current impls is that a join table is a terrible way to do that (vs e.g. compressed bitmaps)

self-identified ‘cryptoanarchist’ talking about IP theft is insane and I can’t be quiet about it. you should gatekeep sense from those who spread bullshit.

surely if these libraries persist data then you can refer to their impl for the lower-level api? or yknow just use the sqlite one you should just sqlite everything sqlite is the correct choice always

i cant take the token efficiency arguments seriously. are you taking any other steps to adapt your codebase, are you coding in arthur whitney style? have you considering the breadth of available languages of all paradigms? or will you admit its just post-hoc justification for your personal favorite
