And with these upgrades, the libraries will be running on clean energy year-round! 350 Seattle won the first funding for cooling at Seattle Public Libraries in 2020, and we love to see our local leaders continuing to uplift community climate priorities.
Seattle Public Libraries already play such an important role in community care, and this funding means that more libraries across Seattle will be a safe and welcoming place where everyone can get life-saving cooling during heat waves.
Shout out to local climate leaders! Last week Councilmembers Lin & Rinck both championed $15M for cooling in the Library Levy.

Whether it was about McLerran’s seat on the board of Tacoma LNG, his inexperience at managing a public utility, or concerns from City Councilmembers about the hiring process, we are glad the Mayor is moving forward with an alternate choice for Seattle City Light CEO.
