It’s not perfect, of course. The ammo system in particular creates some awkwardness that later classic MM games made various attempts to fix. But the flaws don’t come close to killing it. The levels are fun, the controls are tight, the pacing is great, and of course the music is unbelievable.

Replayed Mega Man 2. It's crazy that a game from almost 40 years ago holds up so well.

People like to talk about changing up the formula but you really don’t need to. Star Fox 64 is a stellar game. Build on top of that foundation. There’s so much left to do with it.
