Pleased to share our review on role of gut-brain in eating behaviour phases and 3 stages of obesity! Thank Will Lartigue for inviting me as a coauthor. And, I learned a lot from @drdanbrierley.bsky.social. Happy to discuss more about our new frameworks!!

Very interesting data! Early Ensure neurons = orosensory food stimuli, Late Ensure neurons = food stimuli after swallowing. I'm also interested in the 1s pre-lick activity (smell, etc.?) I love these approaches to dissect these different phases of eating. Congratulations and thank you!

Lateral hypothalamus and eating: cell types, molecular identity, anatomy, temporal dynamics and functional roles - Experimental & Molecular Medicine The lateral hypothalamus (LH) is a key brain area involved in behaviors such as eating and drinking. This Review assesses how the LH controls eating, focusing on its complex organization. Researchers ...

Awesome! This review provides a timely overview of the complexity of NTS. Molecular x Spatial Models. DBH+ neurons in the rostral NTS have been shown to be orexigenic [44, 47], while their caudal counterparts are anorexigenic [44]!!! Intersting!

Hypothalamic neuronal activation in non-human primates drives naturalistic goal-directed eating behavior Maladaptive feeding behavior is the primary cause of modern obesity. While the causal influence of the lateral hypothalamic area (LHA) on eating behav…

Excited to share our paper on Neuron. Chemogenetic activation of LH neurons in monkeys increased food motivation and naturalistic eating behaviors, mainly for palatable food. It's a translational follow-up of our rodent LH paper.

A unified theoretical framework underlying the regulation of motivated behavior This article suggests psychophysiological components to regulate behavior. (1) “need”, an alarm regarding predicted deficiency. (2) “motivation”, a driver initiates behavior. (3) “pleasure”, a lesson...

What are the psychological components that regulate our behavior? We published a "PROBLEMS & PARADIGMS" paper proposing a theoretical framework. Our lab is conducting experiments to discover the neural substrates for each component. I hope you enjoy it!

A normative framework dissociates need and motivation in hypothalamic neurons Experimental and computational methods elucidate the neural substrates of need and motivation in hypothalamic neurons.

HAPPY to share our new paper! Are there specific neurons for food need (hunger) and food motivation (appetite)? Computational modeling and neural activity recording dissociated these two neurons.
