Every year watching the Boston Marathon runners makes me want to train for and run a marathon.

Actually running makes me want to NOT do that.

As a data guy, I can see the exact query in my head. Someone pulled a data frame with multiple fields and sorted by state. They reuse the same data frame in multiple places without resorting, picking out just one column. Not intentional (probably), just short sighted. And poorly tested.

Are you telling me you weren’t there the whole time?

You got some cloud dandruff, eh?

Contacted an A/C (plumber) company for a pre-season maintenance check on our unit. Their next availability is August 31st. 🙄

Spotted tons of folks sporting Boston Marathon jackets downtown. They’re here and getting ready!

Truly, for some men nothing is written unless they write it.

My wife decided to catfish one of the many toms (male turkey) in the woods behind our house, with her practiced call. Poor bastard is so confused.

I didn't attend Hampshire, yet I've spent a bunch of time there. As a local, for summer camps hosted there. Later, visiting friends for Excalibur club. It just felt like a permanent fixture...

We thought we were living in a cyberpunk dystopia but this is actually straight from Warhammer 40K. The machine spirit must be appeased using the proper rituals. Blessings affixed with purity seals will keep the cogitator functioning.

So I grabbed it but still haven’t eaten it. I’ll let you know!

I was thinking how Neal Stephenson in “Fall, or Dodge In Hell” predicted the rise of data centers taking over resource consumption on Earth. The reason was for a post-death virtual world instead of AI, but still tracks on the idiocy.

Now that cycling season has started, and it’s still cold out, it also means my body has switched to OMG HUNGRY mode while I reacclimatize.

Trump has built an Iranian War Jenga. He can't admit a no-win scenario, can't admit no way out. So he build his tower higher and more terrible. Until it's all going to crash down--either through terrible war crimes or TACO.

In my old friend group we had a game we called "Jenga". Someone would make up a fact & put it into conversation without others knowing. As folks realized, they'd join in building the falsehood higher and more bizarre, until everyone figured it out. Then game over, everyone laughs.

I worked a short term summer job for Taylor Rental during college. It was the hardest physical labor I’ve done, and took me to a lot further afield than I expected (like Charlamont).

I grew up in the Pioneer Valley and know it well—including both Northampton and Greenfield. NoHo is nearly as liberal as it gets anywhere in the US—but there are definitely conservative enclaves in Mass.

This was GREENFIELD?? Was not going to expect that.

D20 On A Bus season 2 is one of the funniest things I’ve seen in ages. Enough that I woke up my wife as shook the bed vibrating with laughter.

That strategy worked for me for multiple bosses!

I’m still in Act 2 though…

Please do! I would pick them all out if it wasn’t a pain to do so.

I don’t think they were part of the original recipe version? Or at least we never used them. It’s pretty flexible about adding/removing items. Honestly, rye chips are my least favorite of all the pieces.

I know all of the others. Chex mix is still the reigning snack mix. It started as a way to sell cereal, a recipe in the box—until they realized they could make more money selling it directly.

Homemade still tastes better though.
